Head 2 Head – The Super Six Tournament Begins

By David P. Greisman and Thomas Gerbasi - DAVID P. GREISMAN: A typical tournament has several individual storylines that, together, form a bigger picture, that of the tournament crowning an eventual winner. The beauty in Showtime's "Super Six" super-middleweight tournament is that the individual storylines can have twists and turns, that a loss does not take a fighter out of the running, but adds more drama to an already dramatic set-up. Are we in the midst of one of the greatest events in boxing history?

Hopefully this tournament becomes the stuff of legends.

Something that many years from now, you will sit down, stck in the DVD and watch every single fight and documentary. And it will all be epic

i really hope this is just the start of greater things to come. i would love to see the same thing done for the welters. i just think it would be amazing to see mosley, cotto, mayweather, pacquiao, hatton, maybe williams, and margarito in a similar tournament. that would be so awesome! i would buy every one of those fights for sure!!!

I understand the criticism for Dirrell being in the tournament over guys like Bika and Green but wasn't Andrade-Bute 2 already scheduled to happen when the Super 6 was being put together? And I'm sure Stieglitz didn't become a titlist until after the Super 6 was announced.

you want hatton and williams in the same tourney?

aside from that mistake, i love your idea...

if williams was in this tournament, it would be freaking unreal...

i'd also like to see bute over dirrell...with that said, i dont think dirrell makes this a weak tournament...if anything, his inexperience adds another dimension to it...

i cant see any way kessler doesnt win this thing though...i'd give abraham or froch a slight change to out point him, but he's clearly the class of this tourney...not to mention a massively underrated fighter...

I think they came about around the same time, but Andrade has been the mandatory since April, when he beat Tsypko.

I understand people questioning the inclusions of Dirrell and Taylor, but it probably came down to the fact that Bute and Andrade would've cost too much. This budget on this thing must be ridiculous already.

I actually think Dirrell is the darkhorse to win this tournament, I just understand the criticism because of his level of competition. I agree with you that it adds another dimension to the tourney.

I dunno why ppl say that the biggest puncher of all 6 is Froch, I can only tell this, AA is brutal and doesnt get tired..hit as hard in the 12th as in the 1st..really dangerous..he got 1 punch KO power in both hands but wont get any credit for beating a"shot" Taylor..
