Orbital fractures are not to be ****ed with. I knew a guy that had one (slate fell off a roof and hit him in the face) he had to have surgery behind his eye to fix it. Your body will be telling you something is seriously wrong, that last thing you wanna do is be trying to defend yourself in a fight.

That said, BJS is pathetic for giving Dubois stick and then doing exactly the same thing. No sympathy for that lad.

Ramirez isn’t special, but he’s a pretty good fighter — worthy of being champion. Anything could’ve happened in that fight had it continued, but I was impressed with Robeisy’s adjustments. He completely changed his gameplan from fight #1 — with his trainer’s guidance, no doubt, but Ramirez executed almost flawlessly. Espinoza hadn’t figured him out yet by the sixth frame. There was still plenty of time left, but things were certainly looking good for the Cuban. It’ll be interesting to see where both men go from here.

Ramirez has an amateur attitude. He thinks he can make it up in his next tournament. There were no elbows in his first fight. He came in half ass ready, lost and then took it serious. He won the rematch, but he didn't have to lose the first time. This time he got hurt trying to make up. If he was his best the first time, this time he over trained and if he wasn't at his best the first time then this is his fault. If he had won like he was supposed to there would be no rematch.

The question is whether he'll find the dog in him, or if he'll let a quit define him. He's got good skills, better than Espinoza if we're being honest, and power too. He just needs to answer whether he's got champion grit or not, and ESPN/Top Rank needs to stop hyping him until he actually earns it. The glazing on the broadcast was sickening.
To me that is a good summary. Good skills, good power, great experience in the amateurs but does he have what it takes to go hard 12 rounds in the professionals when the other guy is pushing back and perhaps even playing a bit rough? Time will tell.

                1) Bradley sucks as a commentator 2) Ramirez was fighting a 6'1 freak at lightweight. 3) Ramirez is just too fresh 4) Bradley sucks as a commentator 5) Even Andre Ward knows Bradley sucks as a commentator and often wants to slap him. Bonus : I really would pay good money for Ward to slap Bradley

It's annoying but it's something I often see in the comments on sites like this: All it takes is for a fighter to lose a fight, and dozens of "fans" appear saying it's the end of the line. All it takes is one bad result and the fighter is reduced to rubbish who shouldn't even consider stepping into the ring again. I hope Ramirez recovers. He has the ability to remain at a high level, and it's still too early to discard him.

Robeisy’s biggest issue is age — he’s 30. In an era where boxers fight maybe three times per year, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to put a bad loss behind you. Whatever Ramirez’s professional potential was, he’s got three losses in seventeen fights and a bad injury. Sure he can come back, but the clock is ticking.

You can quit and make the right choice for your health. Those are not mutually exclusive things. He literally did quit. Turned his back, said "no mas".

But, I for one absolutely unequivocally defend his RIGHT to do so. It was very likely the best choice for his health. Whether or not it was the right choice for his career remains to be seen, but that's ultimately up to him. Will he quit every time the going gets rough, or will this be a one time choice, and will he find the dog in him to keep going when he needs to? That's all up to him, and nobody who hasn't had the balls to risk their own health in the ring has no right to say what he should have done.

He's not in a glamour division anyways, and this will likely affect his short term earning power. IMO, as it should. Top Rank should let him develop naturally and not try to artificially hype him into something he's not. But if he wants it badly enough, I believe he is still young enough and skilled enough to become a champion again. None of that means he didn't quit. We can admire people who don't quit, but I don't think it's appropriate to pile on people who choose to take the L when their health is on the line. Losing an eye would 100% end his career. This may, or may not.
