Moments a fighter earnt your respect...

I'm talking like, fighters you weren't really interested in and maybe still aren't, but things you have seen in their careers that have made you stop and think for a minute, or even changed your view on them a little. Any thoughts?

For me ones that stand out are Arthur Abraham in the first Edison Miranda fight. Upto that point I didn't really take notice of him, just assumed he was another continental fighter who had got a world title through careful match-making. But damn, the way he fought through that broken jaw with an asassin like Miranda throwing continous bombs at him from all angles showed some ****ing heart. I ain't quite a fan but I have alot of respect for the guy now.

Another one was Juan Manuel Marquez in the first Pacquiao fight, for obvious reasons. He won me over as a fan that night, and the result kinda turned me away from being a Pac fan, with all the generous decisions he gets etc. Love JMM's style and he earned alot of respect that night and still continues to do so in every one of his fights.

Honourable mentions to Arturo Gatti (R.I.P.) and Micky Ward, for obvious reasons. At the time of their trilogy I was kinda falling out of love with boxing but they brought the feelings back with a vengeance.

A more obscure/odd one is Sakio Bika. The rough fight he gave Calzaghe a few years back really impressed me like, if he had a bit more boxing savvy he would be top of his division. Just the raw brute stength and conditioning and warrior mentality is there for all to see as far as Bika is concerned.

Diego Corrales in his comeback win over Castillo. It was Rocky like.
Felix Trinidad Every time he got up off the canvas and KOed or TKOed a fighter ...especially Yory boy Campas.

          Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Torres:

**** was back and forth for like 5 straight rounds..power shot after power shot..and he got rocked pretty bad..but held on and started fighting his fight and KO'd Torres..he showed tremendous heart

          Kelly Pavlik-Jermaine Taylor I:

I thought Pavlik was doomed from the beginning..because I felt Taylor was more naturally talented..and had underrated power..Pavlik got too ****y dropped his hands and got caught and dropped..he got back up weathered the storm and came back to KO Taylor..and UD'd him in a rematch..that showed alot about Pavliks determination!

          There's more...when I think of them I'll post them..good thread btw!.

Juanma is really starting to grow on me. The way he survived the 12th round against Mtagwa; showed alot of heart.

Joan Guzman vs. Barrios...that was epic.

            Mayweather (I can't remember)

B-Hop vs. Tito, became a fan after that.

Whitaker...downloaded most of his stuff after people kept mentioning how he was the greatest defensive fighter ever. I don't remember the first fight I watched but I'm in love with his style.

Tito- immediately after he landed that first left hook on Vargas
Roy- when he lost in Korea and didn't *****...i knew he was gonna tear **** up as a pro
Lamon Brewster- before he faded, he was actually tryin to fight every HW on the scene
George Foreman- when he put Moorer to sleep...i doubted him and he proved me wrong
Erik Morales- not for just beating MAB but for never taking an easy fight
Chiquita Gonzales- at first, i didnt think he was gonna give Carbajal THAT hard of a time
Azumah Nelson- as a kid, nothing got me more hyped than seeing him do the warrior pose in the middle of an exchange...****in badass
Pacquiao- when he destroyed Eliecer on the Tyson-Lewis undercard...i thought he would lose motivation after the Ledwaba fight

Agreed. Pavlic's win over Taylor was a mind changer.............no doubt.
Another was Calzage's brutal win over Jeff Lacey.
