I think that was an excuse and he just ran with it because it got the attention of many and the world today has started recognizing mental illness

He's not perfect and certainly NOT a textbook Christian who lives the life like Usyk but he's still much more religious than most athletes nowadays who aren't Mslim. As for the mental illness, I think he had drug and alcohol problems so it's probably true but he's certainly milked it for all it's worth. In fact, I remember wishing he'd shut up about it at one point!
