Yet all gormless writers & pundits talk about is 154??

The problem is the promoters & other belt holders who don't want to face the best & theses self important writers who don't push on that issue. Enabling them.
Boots is a long way from undisputed and all he has is an email title. Norman is too expensive, Barrios has other options and Stanionis hasn't crossed his lips. When will Boots start his march to the sea?

        Except he said this:

“My performance was ok. It might be time to go to 54.”

"don't know, man. I think it might be time to go to 154. I felt good, but I feel at 154 I'm going to be way better and my pop will be how it's suppose to be."

Those were Boots Ennis words 'Verbatim' so no need to blame writers or pundits. Its pretty clear he wanted to go to 154. Just wasn't going to be against Ortiz as we now know.

Pretty worthless article. That said, a potential Ortiz Jr. vs Madrimov slated for February makes little sense.

And to add to what is already mentioned, he knew Ortiz might be his next fight, which he didn't make any objection to. And this was only a few weeks ago.

Ennis promoter and Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn alluded that a fight against Ortiz Jnr could be next, perhaps on February 22 in Saudi Arabia.

"I always want to fight the best,” Ennis said regarding a potential fight against Ortiz. “I don't want to fight no bottom-tier guys. When you fight the best, you're going to be better … All they are doing is adding fuel to the fire for my next performance. That's what I need. That's what I want. The next fight is going to be even better. I’m not even worried about it."

You definitely need to re-evaluate Boots commitments if you think he’d ever fight guys on the level of:
              Fundora
              Tszyu
              Lubin
              Zayas

              Serhii Bohachuk
              Bakhram Murtazaliev
              Madrimov
I can go on for pages with talent Boots would bypass fighting. I’m still an understanding fan of Boots with realistic knowledge.
LOL.... Ok Curtis that was funny, but I'm gonna respectfully disagree... He's gonna have to fight some of those cats you mentioned and although you'll disagree, I think he'll give all those fighters you mentioned a tough fight and beat most of those names...

Just read these words from Turki,

“He gave us his word and changed his mind last minute,” said His Excellency Turki Alalshikh to Ariel Helani’s channel, talking about Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis not wanting to move up to 154 for a fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr."

Not a good look for Boots!

Tell me who? These fighters are all MUCH more accomplished fighters than Boots,,including Virgil. IMO, Zayas is 50/50 fight with Boots and Boots only beating a washed up Spence Jr @ 147 or 154.

I must say when I saw the title of the article and who was saying it, I thought I was going to read some new information, some pearls of wisdom that we all somehow missed and that he was going to shed some additional light on the subject. Unfortunately just saying "Boots didn't duck" does not work in this day and age when people no longer believe something just because it is written. Complete waste of time article.

It would have been nice to have seen him exhibit his skills against Virgil... I'm disappointed in his decision, but still a fan....
I agree with you. Talented fighter, probably the best at 147 and competitive with anyone at 154, but it sounds like we will not see those fights because his balls do not match his physical abilities.
