Vazquez could had retired having beaten Johnny Gonzalez, Oscar Larios 2X, and Rafael Marquez after avenging his loss without doing a health altering quadrology, he would still be considered a Hall Of Famer yet decided to go through with it, which gave him long term injuries like his eye.

Israel is more than Magnificent, hope he finds peace in heaven. One of the greatest fighters at Super Bantamweight in Professional Boxing.

****, I'm legitimately sad about this. I saw a lot of Vazquez career like others and I was lucky enough to attend 3 of the 4 fights with Marquez.

I also ran into him while he was running in South Gate Park here in Southern California. It was a random weekday mid-morning - I saw this guy running toward me, I knew his face but it was so out of context so I had to double take for a second,... then I remembered he was from that area so it had to him. . I said, "Hey Israel" and he smiled back and said what's up. I was ****ng hyped and thinking about how nice he was and what kind of fighter he proved to be has me . **** .

Mexico + South Gate/HP/ LA Legend. Rest in peace Israel

Amazing fighter in the mould of the true Mexican warriors of his generation. Deepest sympathies for his family and loved ones. Gone way too soon.

I’m devastated to hear and read this. I loved this fighter, one of a kind that gave us great fights and memories, I’m angry and sad. God Bless you Campeon! ❤️ Love you
