I do not mind Taylor. He is basically a more entertaining fighter than he isn't. A few "get well" fights to be able to say he has recovered then a fight with a young stud is the perfect role for him. I actually respect the term "gate keeper". That means you are a name, and have accomplished at least something in boxing. Taylor can get 2 years or so worth of decent paychecks yet. Besides, it is not like he can't compete at all. There may be an upset win left in his body if the right match-up happens in the right way.

The judges were a disgrace in both fights with Catterall. Taylor lost the first one by a distance and got the verdict. He clearly won the rematch by 2 or 3 rounds but the judges were again poor though not as poor as the first fight. I like Taylor, but I believe he is spent. Teofimo Lopez is at best average and Taylor could not get the job done. He'd be better off retiring than becoming a gate-keeper. We saw how Ricky Burns at the end of his career was robbed by the judges against Selby and Crolla.

He has averaged less than 2 fights each year since turning pro...21 fights since 2012 is a lot of layoffs...at his age how much better will he get? He isnt a puncher and I dont see a move up in weight going very well.
