But usually its alot simpler. One promoter notifies the other promoter that there is a legal challenge coming, and the 2nd promoter moves on to another fighter because its not worth the hassle.
Thanks for the reply, there is still vagueness as to why Arum blocked a fight or fights. I'm gonna assume it was because TR would not benefit financially from a TR fighter fighting a certain opponent.

No way Golden Boy signs off on this without being involved and compensated or risking an injury to Ryan.

That’s not how this game works.

no offense, but you dont know what you are talking about. A promoter taking a percentage of purses for fights under their promotional banner is illegal. Thats not how the business operates. As the lead promoter, Golden Boy would negotiate an agreed amount for its fighters purses. Other than repaying any advances, they are not allowed to take any percentages of that agreed upon purse.

For example, if Golden Boy is making a fight for Garcia, there will be a guaranteed purse amount, basically how much they think they can pay without losing money. So maybe they guarantee Garcia say $6 million, and a back end PPV taste. They cannot touch the $6 million, except to deduct out any advances Garcia took

That, and if it was a fight Arum thought his guy might lose, it could hurt his future marketability......

I just remembered a situation where Don King won an injunction keeping Mayorga from fighting someone. I cant remember though if it was legit or if it was just Don being Don......lol

Maybe I'm not wording my post properly. If you read the bolded part of my post it reads that GBP is entitled to a percentage of the fight, not the fighter's purse. Ryan's manager and trainer are the parties that are entitled to a percentage of Ryan's purse.

GBP is entitled to a percentage of the profit's to a fight that GBP organizes. In this instance GBP will more than likely want some sort of legal contract in order that assures them compensation from Rizin should the fight generate x amount of dollars from sales wether they be live gate or PPV sales as well as other factors...

Rizin, the outfit that is organizing the event, is not a competitor, such as PBC is to Golden Boy. I would imagine that Golden Boy would need to see the contract and might have stipulations of their own before signing off.

Golden Boy's issue is that Ryan negotiated a fight without their legal team's approval....
Bob Arum publicly admitted to blocking Terence Crawford vs. Pacquiao, and said he did it to protect Pacquiao. Google it. That’s just one example!

If you re read my post you'll see that my question was "how did Arum legally block fights from happening?".

Not trying disrespect you but my question wasn't answered. I just googled "how did Arum legally block Terrance Crawford from fighting Manny Pacquiao" and the most sensible Arum answer to the question was in this interview with Bob. https://www.boxingscene.com/arum-pac...y-woes--157248

Seems that he didn't block the fight from happening. The fighters had both agreed but the money from the investors never came in...

My point Is that he can get injured doing something that will not help him at all regaining some place in the boxing world and Oscar is right to be mad because it does nothing for his fighter or his stable.
