Yeah that's true but I think alot of the defensive stuff was engrained into floyd from early by his father which I do give Floyd sr credit for.. but Roger made Floyd look so much more dynamic as a fighter and had him stopping/beating guys up with sharp counter punching ability

This isn't the first time that I heard positive comments about Floyd Sr as a trainer. I have never heard of Floyd Sr. getting a fighter from the beginning to training that same person until they became a world champion. That's the difference between Floyd Sr. and trainers like Eddie Futch, Emmanuel Steward, Ray Arcel, Cus D Mato, Angelo Dundee and those type of guys. Those guys were scientific trainers. Eddie Futch trained fighters such as Norton and Frazier that gave Ali headaches and tough fights. Floyd Sr came in after guys were fighting and took their careers to another level.

Oscar De La Hoya speaks very highly of Floyd Sr. as a trainer too.

Sr. learned what he knows from an old school trainer from Detroit, Darryl Williams. Who he says was around 69 or 70 years old at the time.

Id say Roger was the better trainer. The guy had so much boxing knowledge it was crazy and when he took over as Floyd's trainer from like 2000-2012 that was when floyd was at his best

I like and agree with many things Mickey Bey is saying however I’m a bit older and know that Roger was a boxing nut and was with Floyd PB a long time, while Sr was doing time etc or just had disagreements with his son due to personality conflicts. Roger achievements as a fighter was better than Sr’s and I would say working with Floyd PB as well. I believe they both got good results out of fighters but they can’t come close to the Champions and contenders Emanuel Steward worked with, not even if I gave each of them 10 extra years so Mickey got with Emanuel on the tail end all I’m saying and I’m from Detroit and never worked with him myself, but have seen and know his work and all the other great trainers Kronk had that didn’t get credit, it wasn’t just Emanuel at Kronk he was the leader but their were others as well and it was a team!
