Wow, good thing they took this belt away from the Martinez vs Ioka rematch for this awful nonsense.

The IBF is rapidly becoming IBO tier.

Its unfortunate but playing devil's advocate, both Martinez and Ioka hasn't fought many mandos in their span so I am not surprised. I mean, Martinez got his IBF belt from Ancajas on Feb 2022. Jade Bornea won the mando eliminator on January 2022. Due to the rematch with Ancajas and everything, the mando was officially ordered on December 2022 but due to failed negotiations and purse bid extentions, eventually it finally occurred on June of 2023, 17 month after becoming a mando. What really hurt is that afterwards, Martinez didn't fight for a year until July 2024 in the unification with Ioka. Then they decided by choice to do a rematch (technically speaking there wasn't a rematch CLAUSE, Ioka just decided he wanted to challenge again and Martinez accepted the offer due to better money).

On Ioka's side he's not very good with mandos the last few years either. After he vacated his WBO belt (and the mando Nakatani as well) and went for a rematch with Franco for the WBA belt in June 2023, and instead of fighting the mando next he chased for the Estrada unification which eventually fell through but then due to last minute decided to just have a voluntary defense in December 2023 instead of fighting Jimenez. In April 2024 Jimenez became the interim WBA, and because Estrada lost his belt to Bam Ioka instead opted for unification with Martinez in July 2024 and lost. Then instead of "unifying" with interim Jimenez, they both opted for a rematch.

The issue here is that the IBF RANKING sux compared to the other other rankings when they don't have an overlapping mando, not the fact that they force mandos. If it had Chocolatito at no. 1 (like the other three organizations have at No. 1) it will be a lot more forgivable. I don't mind IBF pushing the beltholders to take on their mandos unlike the other organizations, they just need to get a BETTER EFFIN RANKING SYSTEM. The complaint will be probably not as high if the IBF vacant belt was between Chocolatito and someone else, at the least.

Again, the IBF proving itself a complete joke.

The IBF already gave an exemption for their first Ioka-Martinez fight.

          Boxing fans are miserable whiners.

I'm not well versed with the 115lb rankings, but Bibiano's resume looks extremely thin for a contender. It might wind up being a competitive and entertaining fight, but I have a feeling this title bout will be largely ignored.

...Aaaaand the fight ends up in a split draw, wtf.

Given the crazy score I'd cry robbery except that it was a vacant title fight by two Mexicans held in Japan so I don't even know if its a robbery or simply just crummy judges.
