Comments Thread For: Arnold Barboza Jnr outboxes Jose Ramirez over 10 rounds

In a cagey, low-key fight befitting the atmosphere in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, super lightweights Jose Ramirez and Arnold Barboza struggled to get going at any point during the 10 rounds they shared. Of the two, it was Barboza who showed a little more control and ultimately won more of the rounds, taking a unanimous decision by scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94.

Both guys wasted so many years of their career just to end up fighting each other in a boring fight. I hope both get stopped in their next fights so they can just go away.

Barboza was fast, alert and determined. Liked his movement and use of the ring. Overall good performance. Albeit against a slightly diminished and uninspired Ramirez.

              Yup
              , I agree 100%
He was 3/1 underdog on top of it all
There’s no better feeling than picking an underdog as a winner
              Well deserved

I liked Barboza to take the UD, but why was he the underdog in this fight? The dude can box.

I think his last performance likely affected his odds. Ramirez was perceived having the better resume and being more proven. I was split on my pick for this one. I've never been too high on Ramirez and suspected he was shopworn at this stage but Barboza always seemed basic to me and his last fight was a very uninspiring.

Barboza was bored and uninspired in his last fight.
