  • Comments Thread For: William Zepeda stays on track (just) to face Shakur Stevenson after being dropped and pushed by Tevin Farmer

William Zepeda survived a scare as he risked his No. 1 ranking at lightweight, having to climb off the floor to defeat Philadelphia veteran Tevin Farmer by the narrowest of margins.

That is a second fight in a row an ageing veteran gives up and coming contenders all they could handle and then some.

Def not impressed with Zepeda perfomance but secured the W fairly ,full props for Tevin proved he can still hang in there and compete. Camaron would need to do some work with being to expose to left hands, cant be that open against people like shakur or tank. Will need a total different approach if he actually thinks on winning.

I do rather love it when boxers are good because it makes people remember/realise that boxers are good

Tevin Farmer did well but the scorecards were off big time! William Zepeda work rate and aggression was by far the key to why the scores should have been much wider and I personally think judges need more training or at least be involved in the sport before being selected as a judge.

At least Shakur doesn't have power. But as far as being a Boogeyman... Well, let's just say it looks like he's got work to do. I still think his style has the best chance at bringing out the best in Shakur. Shakur only seems to have a mean streak when it comes to fighting women in the parking lot or posting on social media.

I wish Shakur would take some lessons from, say, Bivol about at least trying to get the stoppage when, like most of his fights, he's clearly levels above his opponent.

He's got amazing reflexes and vision, but I want to see if he's got that dog in him. Tank, and maybe Zepeda or Loma, are probably the only guys right now at 135 who have a shot at getting us an answer to that question, at least until guys like Keyshawn and Abdullah Mason get a good bit more seasoning.

Zepeda style wise is made for Stevenson I think he bashes him up. Won't knock him out but he'll either win wide on points or stop him late. Zepeda has a engine and throws alot of punches but we saw here against farmer that a guy good technical abilities can give him trouble and Shakur is alot better technician then farmer and farmer isn't a puncher either but precise well timed punches can put guys over
