I say this begrudgingly: King was great for boxing. But, at the expense of its most vulnerable individuals. The careers he destroyed, the fighters he put on skid row, there is no excuse... and Arum is not much better, if at all.

I often miss the cards King put on, but I do not miss the fighters he destroyed out of greed. He was a master criminal, people who understand the Cleveland he came out of, and how he managed know how smart he was... But his actions towards fighters were pure evil, no honor whatsoever.
King obviously ripped off fighters. Most promoters do. Is it okay? Of course not but I was commenting on his previous life as a numbers guy in Detroit. I met a dude from USA boxing who claimed that De La Hoya was a standup guy who did right by his fighters. I know that a lot of people disagree. What is the truth? Who knows! As much as I love boxing, it is and will always be a dirty game.

We agree to disagree. Don King brought publicity to the sport. Was he a crook? Of course but are the current promoters any less greedy? Very debatable.

It's on Netflix. There's no way it doesn't get like a million buys because they already have like a million subs. Not me doe. I'm a dirty pirate.

There are degrees of conduct unbecoming: If I don't pay the loan shark eventually perhaps I get wacked... But nobody goes after my wife and kids, or other family. Promoters are a de facto rip off... They are the typical capitalist middle man... Count Dante had incredible financial success by self promoting himself as a Spanish count... The Paul Brothers, Ryan are successful with no real need for a promoter. So they are tolerated and because people are not well informed in life, they are considered a necesary part of a boxing match. So if they take something... That would be a rip off, and perhaps we can say "ok." King and Arum are different and especially King, took what he could with literally no regard for the fighters... So I can accept your statement (the bolded), I even agree with it, with the caveat we are talking about a matter of degrees.

King and Arum have both demonstrated no regard for fighters and/or (Arum) the sport. Satanic Bob is the figurative co ck block for many great potential fights... King would take a fighter's last dime if he could.

King was a numbers guy in Cleveland and actually... he was the underdog lol! He was essentially a pure genius. He played the big fish off each other, and when they literally blew each other to smithereens, he came out unscathed! I actually have no problem with his life that way, only when he started to hurt innocents (fighters).

Yes boxing is a dirty game. De La Hoya was instrumental in getting fighters to appreciate their power, that much is a fact. I can believe he is a stand up guy. He was a lot better to fighters than Arum! Proof of which was what he did for Mayweather.

Live Link➡️ Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Live
