It’s crazy how a lot of fans are just saying that Boots was uninterested or indifferent with the rematch. Man, I saw one helluva fight that Boots won clearly but not because he didn’t try! He tried too much to get the ko!!! That Ukrainian dude just came to fight, he wasn’t playing, made for a great fight! Anyway, Ennis is damn near 30 and got that email belt, time to move up and face some killers!!! Canelo has never go these many passes his whole career.
Hindsight being 20/20 , you can always go back through a fighters record and find some creative ways to trash their opponents to make a guy that you don't like look unworthy. I don't care for that approach at all. It's just too easy to do , like rewriting history. Anyone being objective can see how good Bam is. He makes great fighters look ordinary and good fighters look like nothing.

I agree with that comment but I don't see what it's got to do with Canelo.
Part of the issue with Boots is that he and/or his dad have a LONG history of bleating about being ducked, and then turning down big fights. He was offered a fight with Crawford. His dad admitted, on camera, to turning it down. Do people not remember the whole "I'm not fighting Bud out of loyalty to Showtime" bit when he didn't even have a contractual obligation to them? He avoided the WBO route when Bud was defending it like clockwork, went IBF, which only enforced its mandatory on Spence ONE time in FOUR years. Waited to petition for his shot until Spence/Bud were already signed to fight. Didn't manage to fight Barrios or Stanionis while "with Showtime". When he becomes a free agent, he doesn't sign with PBC direct to get the fights with Stanionis or Barrios. He doesn't sign with Top Rank to get a fight with Norman. He doesn't sign with GBP to get a fight with Vergil Ortiz Jr. He signed with Matchroom, who has, what, Alexis Rocha at 147? Doesn't fight him. Doesn't fight Conor Benn. And he doesn't move up to 154 to fight any of the Matchroom contenders there. So what, exactly, is he waiting for?

Very good, well articulated post. I guess my only question is - is his father really doing this and Boots has no say in the matter i.e. is he really that weak and cannot stand up to his father?

You've got Brian Norman saying that his dad called Bozy and said they accepted the 1.7 million offer after they countered with 2.2 and Hearn walked away, and that Bozy said "Woah, we're not trying to fight now, we want to save that for undisputed". Then you've got Boots saying he never received a contract for Crawford, but his dad and promoter both admitting that they got the contract from BLK Prime and turned it down.
You can make up your own mind, but I'd sure want to know if someone sent me a contract.
Combine that with the choices they have made and where and when they've signed, and it doesn't paint the best picture for Team Boots actually wanting smoke.

You bring up some really good points . Definitely something to think about.
For the writer doing this Mailbag , Could you please find out and let us know what's up with Mr. Excitement Leigh Wood ? It's been a minute since we've seen or heard anything about him. Leigh Wood is one of my favorite fighters to watch , he's always in good fights.
Wrote it numerous times in practically every single Boots thread the past month, but if Boots is really getting "ducked" as they claim and that is why he can't get good opponents on his resume, then he needs to make his reward higher to make his risk worth it for other opponents to face him so that he can jumpstart his career. That means either he needs to sweeten the purse for the opponent to fight for an unification even if it requires Boots to take a discount. Boots is 27 and still in his first weight class. Email or not, he got a belt, and the division right above him is literally oozing with better opponents even in the non-titlist levels so just go for his second division. If Boots is truly as good as his fans portray him as, then he should be able to win against any opponent in 154. If not...well, then it just proves to the pundits that they were correct in that he ain't that great.
Murtazaliev is literally a no money opponent, and an even bigger high risk low reward guy after him crushing Tszyu. His fellow beltholders Crawford and Fundora has zero intentions of fighting him. His promoters are practically begging for some coverage and wants big fights. If Boots goes up to 154 and offers the 1.7 mil to Murtazaliev (the amount that he was willing to offer Norman) to fight in Philly, I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to take it despite being the beltholder. Controversial judges will also likely not matter as much as a KO ending is relatively high too. Give up on the idea of trying to convince Norman/Stanionis/Barrios to just be willing to hand over their belts, especially with Eddie obviously unwilling to overpay for it.
Even if Fundora/Crawford aren't willing to fight him, a win against Murtazaliev at 154 to make him 2 division beltholder will give him more far more value than going undisputed at 147 taking the next three years or more convincing the "other side" to let him unify.
For the non-belt holders, solid win against Madrimov at 154 will let him claim that he's better than Crawford (you can say the triangle theory doesn't work in boxing but can't deny that the image it leaves to casuals actually matters) and have something to back up on.
Bohachuk and Virgil are also available names, and even Tszyu who was already badly exposed by Murtazaliev will still get him better value especially if in Australia.
