Comments Thread For: Ailing Israel Vazquez should hear the Hall's call

On and off for five years now - depending on the volume of new talent in that year's class - I've put a check by the name of an unforgettable Mexican fighter I had the honor of watching from ringside, Israel Vazquez.

God bless Vasquez in his battle. But he doesn't belong in the HOF. Just being brave and exciting should not get you into the hall. There are quite a few guys already there that don't really belong.

I saw many of his fights. He was skilled, had tremendous heart, and could punch. The trilogy with Marques should get them both tickets in.

He definitely belongs on merit and should have been inducted with Marquez , it would have been fitting.

Wildman, he was more than brave an exciting. He's the only fighter in the history of Boxing to get FIGHT OF THE YEAR, three consecutive years in 2006, 2007, 2008 against Jhonny González and Marquez. Two trilogies, amazing Champion inside and outside the ring. His induction is way overdue.
