I was a big Stevenson guy from the beginning. I attended a few of his fights and expected greatness. He just seems to have stagnated, only fighting soft opposition. Yes, he is a master boxer but he is also boring. Boredom does not sell.Comment

If you read the comments on this forum about Shakur, you will realise that 80% to 90% of people do not like him because of his style. By the way, this is a boxing forum not a knitting forum, that only hard core boxing fans would subscribe to or even know that it exists. There are no casuals here, even though I observe quite often in heated arguments people call each other casuals to shut them up and win the argument.Comment

Shakur had to cancel his voluntary due to the injury so I would guess he has a mandatory coming up. They need to make Shakur v Tank straight after that while both men still can make 135 & before anything untoward happens (like Tank getting nicked).Comment

I sure hope it doesnt turn into a trend for tank, LOL.

Why are all these thugs so scared to fight one another? Not only that they're the main ones pampered and get away with cherrypicking it's absolutely ridiculousComment

It is been a trend.Comment

I'll never understand how people can say 'YOU DONT KNOW **** ABOUT BOXING' or call someone a casual just because they're not a fan of someone. Especially someone who I think has been the most boring fighter I've never seen.
The fact of that matter is that Shakur is boring as hell. If anyone is a fan of him, cool. I'm not going to argue that. I'm not denying his skills. Shakur doesn't have to do anything but be himself. He doesn't have to please anyone... but the truth is, fans are responsible for the money that gets put into his pockets. Viewership/ratings, tickets/merch sold, ppv sales (if/when he is on a ppv).
Just like he doesn't need to please anyone, we don't have to watch him.
Say what you want about compubox, but this definitely means something:
Edwin De Los Santos made CompuBox history tonight in WBC world title fight against Shaku Stevenson. His 40 landed punches are the fewest landed punches in a twelve round fight in CompuBox's 38-year history.Comment

The De Los Santos stat must mean something but I’m not sure what. If your opponent throws very few punches it can mean 1. They only came to survive like Ryan Merhy v Jared Anderson 2. They suddenly lost heart, like Johnny Nelson fighting for world title or 3. The man in front of them was so good they saw no way of hitting him, like Pernell or Floyd. At present I don’t know which this was. I’m not exactly super high on Shakur but I definitely won’t write him off yet.Comment
