  • Comments Thread For: The Beltline: Having worn so many masks, Chris Eubank Jnr now needs to reveal himself

It feels rather fitting to be writing about Chris Eubank Jnr on Halloween, not because he is a villain, or even remotely scary, but instead because he has worn so many masks in his 35 years. Some masks were worn as a disguise, some were worn for protection, and some represent a front, or a public face. Whatever the purpose, behind each of these masks one could accuse Eubank Jnr of retreating, hiding. There is a possibility, too, that behind these masks he was pulling an expression to contradict the words that were being said at the time, the aim always to give us more tricks than treats.

Not a fan of Eubank Jr. But the article was a great read. Part of what's so frustrating about Jr. Is that he seemed like one of the few children of great boxers who could actually surpass his father's achievements. He had the talent, athletic ability, looks and the last name but not the drive or determination to be best (the only things his father's genes and name couldn't gift to him)

it was a lot more than drive he was missing if he wanted to be compared to his dad

Difficult to know where Eubank is at. He avenged the Smith loss and anyone can be beaten by a good shot but not sure he has the killer instinct he had when he was younger. Can see why too after his brother's death and Blackwell's coma.

Jr. loves the spotlight more than the ring light , after a promising star he's become a drag..

canelo made an offer to eubank for his last fight, he wants eubank and the likes of him because they are easy fights for him & he avoids benny & his fans pay for it regardless, even tho i think eubank may have even tested canelos fans, or maybe not they are teflon when it come to their king

CEJ deserved credit for pushing BJS but if he thinks he was robbed he is living in a fools paradise. It was close but clear for BJS. At that point I think people thought the young CEJ could learn & improve but, sadly, that never happened. Since then he has flitted, not only from trainer to trainer but, more worryingly, from style to style. CEJ still doesn't seem to know what he wants to be in the ring, although he must now be pushing 35. He had some talent &, unlike Conor Benn, he didn't do anything to tarnish his father's legacy but I don't think he'll add anything to it either.

Wasted career, he is all about the money fights, yet fights journeyman a lot of times whilst waiting for big paydays but then at the same time has ducked the big opponents when they came. GGG he was offered, lost his pen. Canelo team said they gave him an offer he lost his pen. He doesn't want Hamzah either. Could have fought Janibek and didn't take that route either. So i don't get his career planning, i actually rate him as a good boxer he's got talent, lacks power.

Looks like he will chase Benn. Which he will win with ease i've had that opinion since day 1 Benn has done nothing at 147 to come up to 160 and win Eubank. I rate Hamzah highly but also think Eubank has more experience and right now would win that fight. So i don't get how he picks his opponents or what his actual plan is guy seems confused. Embarassing that he is multiple time ibo who no one gives af about but avoid legit title shots when opportunity comes knocking
