Sounds like his heart is not in it any more and if that is the case, he should retire. Given that he was wise with his money, he should not continue to fight for the money.

I have enjoyed watching most of his fights, even though in the first couple of fights I could not quite appreciate his level of talent. I did not understand why he was hyped so much, especially after watching the Salido fight. Eventually he grew on me and I recognized and understood what he had to offer. His style was sort of an acquired taste for me.

And no, I don't think he is scared of Tank of anyone. His track record shows that. If anything Tank has been avoiding him for years and is calling him out now when Loma is thinking about retirement (or has already decided to retire).

Weird, but this was exactly the same for me. I think I just was annoyed at the hype they were bringing him on the scene with. Then let's be honest, he had somewhat an arrogant, ****y attitude in the ring. I just wasn't feeling him at the time and was hoping someone would blast him out so he would get humbled. I was so happy when Salido beat him in his 2nd fight and kind of laughed about it back then.

Fast forward to maybe couple years ago and now I appreciate his style so much more and defend his loss to Salido. Crazy how things work. I've come to realize his style is like no other in boxing and what he would do in the ring, was rather extraordinary. He would literally stand in front of his opponents and dance around them. They could barely touch him, while he's pouring on the offense from all kinds of weird angles. As difficult as he was to hit, you can't really put him down as a defense first fighter. The dude was pure offense in the majority of his fights. Again, he just made it look like was defensive minded first because he made it very hard for fighters to hit him, all while standing in front of them. His defense has slipped however as he's gotten older.

If the dude retires, so be it. An end of the Loma era and what is more than likely a once in a lifetime kind of fighter. At his age, he doesn't deserve to be a stepping stone for any of these younger guys that simply want him on their resume when their quality is no where near a prime Loma.

Same here , at first I didn't like him and was glad that Salido beat him. Even though Salido was absolutely f ilthy in that fight. Lomachenko grew on my though and I came to appreciate the sheer brilliance of what he was doing in the ring. When he was in the zone and flowing it was beautiful to watch. It's a shame that he stayed amateur so long and didn't have a lot more professional fights but that's life.

More to the point, Kambo had the only other belt Loma hadn't already won in the ring, and a win over Lopez. He wouldn't be the only guy that Loma went after to prove to himself that he's better than Lopez. I suspect he minds that one more because most people thought Lopez won fair and square, while most people think Haney lost.

I am glad to hear that others think and feel the same way. I was starting to think that I was in the minority. I think it was the extraordinary hype that kind of colored it all for me - "the greatest amateur of all time" with 396 wins and 1 loss (avenged twice), two gold medals, kind of set it up so that you expect a God that just toys with everyone, destroys everyone with ease and I did not see that in the first couple of fights.
