Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde underwhelms on BOXXER debut in London

Anthony Yarde, now 26-3 (24 KOs) made an underwhelming start to life on BOXXER and Sky Sports with a hard-fought win over the game Ralfs Vilcans (17-2, 7 KOs).

Hope Vilcans gets some future opportunities off the back of that performance. Can see how he was top 15 rated, he legit boxed well - his jab was on point, he was snapping Yarde's head back with uppercuts and worked the body well. Its a shame he didn't posses power otherwise he would've had Yarde in trouble down the stretch.

That said Yarde should've smoked this guy and he didn't...

Top 15 rated by a belt means nothing. Look at all of Wilders bum opponents.
top 15 rated. They will purposefully rank mediocre fighters to give the name guys easy fights.

I do generally agree with you but there are a percentage of fighters from smaller countries like Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Uzbekistan etc who are there purely on merit because more often than not they do not have the finances behind them to manoeuvre up the rankings so they've had to quite literally fight their way into contention.
