Floyd would never fight in a tournament like that. He doesn't fight top WW so there is no way he would be willing to go against all the top elite WW at the same time. Ain't happening.

Money wise it would make absolutely no sense to Floyd anyway. Let's think logically about it.

Now don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a Welterweight tournament.

It just won't happen and I can't exactly blame the fighters for it not taking place. Here is why. With the Super Middleweight tournament all the fighters there are of a similar status in terms of draw and appeal the tourny is mutually benificial.

With a Welterweight tourny it's not mutually beneficial. It's most beneficial to guys like Clottey and Berto who can get the fights their appeal otherwise wouldn't get but for guys like Floyd, Mosley and Cotto it's more of a burden than anything else, it prevents them from taking on other big money fights and such.

So yeah it makes sense for Clottey to say something like this and be interested in it because he's clutching at straws somewhat. If he was in Mayweather, Cotto and Mosley's position I don't think he would be so enthusiastic about it.

Wouldnt happen, All the boxer that they need to pick needs to be in the same region money/legacy/fame-wise, I see alot the boxers at WW not agreeing to it..

I'd say Cotto, Mosley, Clottey, Berto, and Margarito would all do it. But Floyd would never, so what's the point?

that'd be great! who gives a fcuk if mayweather would do it or not, likely everybody else would. swap him for williams or collazo then we can determine the best welterweight and floyd by rejecting this would automatically be saying he isnt the best ww if every name in his division is up for it and he isnt. he will look really ****** the next time he says hes the best! let him fight this unknown geezer and earn about 2 quid.

It wouldn't happen Floyd, Mosley, and Cotto won't be around to much longer imo. They will all be retiring soon. Berto is protected. Nobody will fight Margo again, imo but maybe Cotto will.

Would never happen. Unfortunately, there are stars involved in a welterweight tournament that are not involved in the super middleweight tourney.

Ummm, haha. Would NEVER happen. If HBO's budget is 60 million for the year....half or maybe more would be tied up in that tournament.

I believe Clottey & Margarito would take whatever they were handed,just to be a part of this tourney,Mosley & Cotto would be like lets do it & um floyd would,floyd would avoid it & his fans would fight for his pride while floyd ran away!!
