Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez has opened the door to a possible campaign at heavyweight in the future. Cruiserweight Ramirez, 33, is preparing feverishly for his upcoming WBA and WBO 200lbs unification championship against Chris Billam-Smith in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 16.

I've never cared much for Zurdo, but I will admit he has looked a lot better at Cruiser than he has anywhere else. I think that's his zone. Going up to HW? Not so sure.

I don't think he has the power nor the boxing abilities to make a heavyweight run. Now when Uysk, Fury, AJ retire and the belts break up again maybe......

HW is definitely the smart move.. he beats most all of the second tier HW..

The elite level HW would be really good fights.. Dubois is not unbeatable, that would be a great fighr

I know HW is appealing, but I think he's an overachiever. I can't see him doing much at HW. He should stick to cruisierweight and simply build a solid remainder of his career there. OR truly settle into being a SOLID CW, then try to cash out at HW later.

Gilbeto 'Zurdo' Ramirez will get absolutely destroyed at heavyweight.
He's a damn goof fighter to have amassed a 46-1 (30 KO's), but he doesn't have the power, or boxing skills to compete with the heavy weights.
You've got to give him credit for wanting to obtain the loftiest goal in boxing, but he should fight Jai Opetaia, who might knock him out at cruiser weight.
