Similar to when Kermit Cintron fought Paul Williams, Whittaker tried to get a cheap TD win at least it was just a draw but a loss would have been better. At that point IDC who was really winning when guys do this stuff.

Just watched the fight again. Whittaker took the first round on workrate alone then started to struggle.

In the 4th he got absolutely battered, Cameron couldn’t miss and that was continuing in the 5th. Whittaker was gassed, couldn’t slip a punch, had no power and hit nothing but gloves. Cameron said after the fight that Whittaker was gassed in the 2nd round onwards and had nothing on his punches.

Unless Whittaker had suddenly learned to slip a punch, gained more power and been able to hit something other than Cameron’s gloves, he was losing that fight. He found a way out and took it.

How one judge had Whittaker ahead is a true robbery. Cameron won 3, 4 and 5 clearly. Whittaker won 1, and 2 was close. Same old story - the name, the prospect being given rounds just for that reason while the honest grafter is robbed.

It definitely seemed that way. He wasnt looking too slick at all, was getting caught more and more and seemed to be gassing, getting broken down or both. Decent chance he would have found himself in real trouble as the fight went on with the way things looked to be going.

I agree Whittaker took the easy way out after the fall - bit it really didn't look like he caused the fall

Also watching the fight - Whittaker didn't look that gassed. He had been attacking Cameron in that round a fair bit too. I think a "gassed" narrative after 4 rounds is pushing it

Whittaker looked as I expected him too really - a good boxer without enough power
