Comments Thread For: Callum Johnson says fight against Artur Beterbiev is 'one big blur', but won't ever forget dropping him

"He's getting weaker, Joe. I can feel him getting weaker." Callum Johnson was on the verge of a terrific upset. The heavy-handed former light heavyweight, from Boston, England, had tasted the canvas in round one, but had dropped brilliant Russian Artur Beterbiev in stunning fashion with a second round left hook.

they get too greedy after hurting Beter and go for the finish rather than breaking him down or picking him apart

he can box on the back foot

    and will spring traps

to crack em with a collison counter

if hurt Beter walk him down safely with a landing jab

Yarde was jabbing without landing and got his ass handed to him

Yep, Johnson caught Beterbiev with a clean, short, sharp left hook.
      Legit KD.
If Johnson can do it, so can Bivol.

I’ve heard some say left hook is the power shot Bet is most open to

Biv has an unconventional left hook

he could dip under or slip the Bet jab and counter with a rising hook

people picking a Bivol KO win are crazy. Bivol has never stopped an elite fighter and his last fight with that bum he had to get sloppy to get the KO and got hit more than usual.

thats the thing if bivol tries a surprise strategy of coming in aggressive or trying to back up beterbiev or try for a KO well beterbiev has stopped multiple guys while countering on the back foot. beter can fight forward or backward and he doesnt need much extension for his power and he also retains his power in the late rounds. good luck bivol he will need it

I didn't pick Bivol to win by KO.
I simply pointed out that if unheralded Callum Johnson can clip Beterbiev and put him on the canvas with a left hook, chances are that Bivol - an elite fighter - should be able to do the same.
Not a prediction of a Bivol KO.

I see Biv winning wide and making it look easy

IF Biv is backing up Bet, something went really wrong for Bet and he's being dominated

Bet's most dangerous counters are at closer ranges in brawls

Bet counters on the outside and for combos are nowhere near as good

A come forward Biv would do so behind the cover of his jab. No wild reaching power shots that get countered like Smith Jr and Yarde

Respect to Johnson for having fun with the loss. Says a ton about his love of the sport.

Still got Beterbiev. I have felt in my gut Beterbiev will take some time to assert his power, but will put Bivol down once or twice to score a UD. Yes, I respect Bivol too much to outright call the KO. I actually see Bivol winning multiple early rounds, and Bivol adjusting well enough to be the first to see the bell. I just respect the power that Beterbiev brings and his technical skills in the ring as well. People who have fought him say even his glancing blows hurt, and that is what adds up over the fight. He just hurts you, smothers you, and makes you adjust to him. Forcing an opponent to adjust to you is how you win a fight like this.
