Well Beter's getting up there in age. He'd rather relinquish the belt than to have it mercilessly ripped off his waist by the hands of the Mexican Monster. Which is exactly why he's fighting the pillow fisted Bivol next, instead of his Mexican nightmare.
looked more like the Mexican Tired in his most recent outing
I saw David in person about 2 weeks after his most recent fight
said hello to David. Friendly guy as are most Mexicans
he was out celebrating with his wife following the win over Gvo
must be wiki error it lists the Gvo fight as being for the interim wbc belt
Do you not understand the concept of interim belts? Beterbiev is the WBC champ. Benavidez is the interim. Effectively the mandatory, but will get emailed the real belt if the winner of the undisputed fight doesn't fight him when the mandatory gets ordered, as part of the mandatory rotation. Holy casual alert, Batman. They do the same thing in UFC and many combat sports. It's not that hard.

Actual boxing fans do... It's not even a "regulation". It's just how the sport works. That's like a football fan not knowing how the progression to the Super Bowl works.
How old is he now, 40? He'll need his AARP card after the Mexican Monster gets a hold of him. Look I appreciate everything Beter's done over the years but this a young man's sport. Benny brutalizes him.
You have GOT to be ****ting me. Beterbiev is a career long light heavyweight galactic puncher. You’re gonna’ tell me Benavidez who recently moved up in weight would beat Beterbiev? Even at his age and all the issues plaguing him I would pick Beterbiev in a heartbeat. Nothing to think about. Same with Bivol.
Benavidez will not a win a title at 175 as long as those two hang around (unless they either vacate belts or get stripped).
….and the same goes for Canelo at 175 (before Garfios/Oracle/Smash come in here and imply that I’m saying Canelo’s next in line to rule at 175 or something outlandish like that).
