Comments Thread For: Adam Booth says it's time for Josh Kelly to take big fights 'he can't just win in first and second gear'

Trainer Adam Booth was satisfied with Josh Kelly's Wembley Stadium victory over Ishmael Davis a fortnight ago and hopes it will lead the fighter to big domestic fights or world titles.

As if they would put him in with sheeraz, unless they were looking to cash out. If they got offered a million they probably would, the problem is someone like Booth is like the mcguigans, don't they take about 40% of your money? And booth's training methods are ineffective, he's all about lifting weights. Funny when haye fought bellew and there was vada testing and bellew said he could see haye shrinking closer to the fight. And booth milked all those bum ppv's where haye could just hit guys like ruiz and jump out of range.

I don't think so. He's not good enough to fight at a higher level yet, maybe not ever. Maybe that's lack of power, but he'll get "exposed" again when he steps up. Honestly looks like he's fighting at his level. He barely squeezed by #43 Davis and got stopped by 147lb #22 Avanesyan...

this guy spends so much time hopping around in the ring he'll never last against better opposition bc of wasting energy

also he showboats too much and he'll get clocked for it soon enough... if he manages to fight anybody of decent name

Give Davis a full training camp and he beats Kelly. Kelly was stopped by a guy who all the top welterweights he fought, decimated him. This shows Kelley's ceiling, and it is not very high, domestic level only.

Ok, put him in with Sheeraz. If they got offered the fight they'd price themselves out of it. Booth talking out of his backside as usual.

He's on a decent run. It's now or never. I'm not really convinced he's more than a decent domestic level fighter but he deserves a step up.

Needs to go and fight for the European title again or start manoeuvring towards an eliminator.

...he has so many different styles. He spins a lot of plates...

Which "style" is Josh using while he runs around the ring for 1/3 of the fight? Roadrunner style? Don't Stick, Just Move?

I like Booth, one of the more honest and thoughtful characters in boxing. But he's got tunnel vision when it comes to the twitchy, once-hyped Kelly.

Flashes of high level stuff come and go. Then tedium sets in. Think Andrade... It's maddening.
