  • Comments Thread For: Daniel Dubois' coach: 'I wouldn't be telling Anthony Joshua to jump back in with him'

For a coach, perhaps the only thing better than a fight going exactly as expected is for the same fight to end up being even easier than they expected, or indeed hoped.

Wilder v Joshua is a no money fight no one wants to see.

Don doesn't understand that AJ was just playing a movie role during their first fight.
He had a script to follow ("He's a šhit fighter", "These are the moments we live for", pounding his chest, communicating with the public...)
Well, at least that's what he thought.

I don't want to see a rematch ...it was a wipeout and probably would be again. Wilder looks even more ineffective than Joshua , to the point of being completely shot , Fury took his soul.(but Wilder may have taken more of Fury than we know -3 brutal fights)!

Probably Don doesn't believe his fighter will get the same outcome in the rematch as in the first fight hence this pyschological mind game.

AJ did everything wrong in that fight, maybe due to overconfidence. I have never seen AJ box that bad before, poor movement (moving in straight line against a double jabber) and no defence. It was by far the worst AJ I have ever seen.

So, I don't think that AJ will make those fundamental mistakes in the rematch. And Don is certainly aware of this.

AJ has never been the same after Ruiz.

He cant handle pressure anymore. He used to be able to. When geriatric Wlad dropped him he atleast got up the canvas and continued boxing smartly. We know he avoided Yang's huge right in the amateurs.

Watch the fight break down videos, he used to use a stiff arm (left hand) defense to control distance, he abandoned that. He panics when pressured and has basically zero defense. he dont move his head, he dont clinch, he doesnt use the stiff arm anymore, he has no distance control at all, Dubois just blitzed him. it was like a pro fighting a guy with 6 months experience.

Dubois will just run him over in a rematch. And AJ has had 4 "confidence booster" fights after his losses to Usyk. There is nothing left.what are they supposed to do with him, have another 4 confidence booster fights only to get KTFO next time he steps up? hes shot at age 34.

You are probably right. Dubois will not get the same outcome in a rematch. Next time he will knock Joshua out sooner!

If you look at the body language of both lads going into that fight, you’ll see the difference. ‘AJ’ looked like it was his first time going into the ring in front of 98,000 fans

Then, once in the ring, AJ stood still. I wouldn’t say he looked scared but he looked very nervous.
This is pretty much exactly what I said too. The mental side of boxing is so important.

Don Charles was on TalkSport Friday night having a proper dig at Gareth A Davies. Geezer was so vexed so angry and yet he was on to talk about his greatest achievement. Blokes a tool always the victim always grinding an axe even during his moment in the sun.
