The venues prefer the later start times, as they sell more food and beverage over the course of the evening. They want you eating at the arena, NOT somewhere else after the show.

There is no other viable reason to push the start time so late. PPV or streaming can run anytime, so its not like the network is giving you a 9-12 broadcast window.

It would be fantastic if they started the off-tv stuff at like 4 or 5pm, main event at 9, and we are in the car by 10. Too many times I have been at a fight party and the main event isnt over until 12:30 or quarter to 1, and everyone is tired and just want to go home lol

TV ratings say different but I'll let you keep telling me about america.

10 pm is the right time.

Nobody in america is gonna buy a ppv that starts at 4pm eastern time. 1pm west coast time.

It's Saturday. Most Americans are out running errands at those times. 7pm is the earliest you could ever do.

I'm with you on midnight being to late tho

As long as we don't get less fights on the cards. I'm one of the strangely few people that attend fight nights from the first fight to the last fight. A lot of people tend to only turn up for the main event, or even worse turn up for the fighter they are supporting, then leave after they've fought. I was baffled when a bunch of people left immediately after Fisher fought on the Opetai v Thompson card.

Those Saudi cards go on way too long. The timing barely suits anyone either...

The main event is often 3am or 4am Saudi time. Surely fighters don't want to fight at 4am. I doubt that's suitable for locals either.

That means it's usually midnight or 1am in the UK. Given the fact these Saudi shows have British promoters and a lot of British fighters, a big part of the TV audience are in the UK. They don't wanna be waiting until 1am for a main event.

Even on the west coast in USA its about 4 or 5pm on a Saturday, people are out doing things.

They really need to shift the timing forwards a few hours.

the TV undercard could start at 7, main event at 9. But historically the undercard doesnt matter anyways, as far as PPV buys are concerned. Sure, if its decent you will watch it, but if not then you play poker or beer pong with your guests and get drunk until the main event starts lol.

It would suck for the west coast people though as it would be a 6pm start. I wonder what the buy rates are for the various time zones......

I spent many a night walkinig the streets of London or sleeping at Waterloo station after missing the last train when I was younger. Always loved Sunday afternoon cards!!....
