Comments Thread For: Daniel Dubois is the latest to prove that fighters deserve second (and third) chances

After stopping Daniel Dubois in the ninth round via a sharp right-hand jab - a punch of incredible accuracy but also enough innocence to reawaken questions about Dubois' resilience - Oleksandr Usyk took pity on his defeated foe. He spoke to Dubois like a kindhearted coach might to an athlete who had just missed the cut for his varsity team:

Considering AJ was on his 4th or 5th chance. Then it makes sense.

DDD went against another undefeated fighter and loss because that injury the Joyce inflicted. The second loss he might had that knockdown/KO but got KOed in the process, he had a good showing. His subsequent fights he showed more grit and activity so he has only himself to thank for training harder and going forward.

There is no shame in loosing to Usyk. He is a superb technician with an incredible engine and just keeps going and going, constantly throwing punches. He overruns his opponents in late rounds because they do not have nearly the same stamina that he does. Having said that, I can't imagine that Usyk is too excited about fighting Daniel again. He is close to retirement and is on record saying he can only get up for a fight with Fury and AJ (which is the most money).

Daniel's real tests will come from other fighters - Zhang, Parker, Bakole, Kabajel. Bakole still claims that Daniel will not go anywhere hear him in sparring or fighting because he allegedly brutalized young Daniel in their sparring sessions. We will see what unfolds.

Loses are a huge deal in boxing. Spence lost once and he disappeared! Jermell's only second loss and he disappeared!
