if naseem or ali was around now, there would be without a doubt, he would be the biggest ppv star ever in boxing history

Although...in order to be used as a comparative tool, these would have to be adjusted for inflation.

In Ali's time, the equivalent of PPV was CCTV, i.e. closed-circuit TV, where the fight is broadcast to theatres and you purchase tickets to watch live. Ali is estimated to have sold over 100 million CCTV tickets worldwide, making him the biggest CCTV star of all time. If we count CCTV as PPV, then that would technically make Ali the biggest PPV star of all time.

As for Naseem, his fights were broadcast free on ITV to 10 million+ UK viewers in the mid-90s, along with Eubank, Benn and Bruno. Then in the late '90s, Naseem helped launch Sky Box Office and became the UK's first big PPV star, but the UK PPV market was quite small back then as most UK households didn't have access to Sky Box Office. If prime Naseem was around today, I could imagine him selling 1M+ PPV per fight like AJ.

I like AJ, but I don't see how he'll be able to come back with that glass jaw. That's always going to hold him back, just like with Khan. However, AJ still has a few fights left that could still sell big PPV numbers, like Fury or Wilder.
