Awesome! The other guy usually gets tired after he chases me a couple of miles.

Pretty well actually, I’m a life long wrestler but started boxing in my teens

I used to fight a lot when I was young because I have a handicapped little brother and the kids were cruel were I grew up

I never like to take it to the ground in a street fight unless I had to because you never know if you will get stomped out by one of the guy’s friends if it went to the ground

But don’t get me wrong I did whatever I had to do and have slammed a few and pounded them out

        A boxer can 1-2-1 a threat

        and then EXIT THE SCENE

        BEFORE any real trouble starts

situational awareness, and knowing how to throw a clean, compact 1-2 can end 98% of street fights before they even begin.

Good job brother. That's how brothers ought to be.

Ironically, helped me more on the defensive side.
After a bunch of missing, the fight is basically over in their heart.
Landing clean shots on a face begging to be hit is the easy part.

It's worked but about 7/10 it goes to the ground and my wrestling/jujitsu kicks in

Yep. This is the right approach. Do what you have to do and GTFO quick. Punching is relatively, clean, quick and low commitment.

Grappling works great in a CONTROLLED 1 v 1 environment where you know there are no weapons and nobody is gonna come out of nowhere and attack you while you're grabbing someone else. Its needlessly risky for the streets and should only be used when you have to, which usually means you ****ed up at boxing range.

the last time i had a street fight was about 3 years ago, boxing helped me in the way i had managed to make the other person miss all his punches with basic head movement but because it was raining and the guy had grabbed me with one hand and i had grabbed him with 1 hand and we were throwing punches and i missed all of them except 1 because it was slippery, i had taken him down about 3 times on the concrete (dude was much bigger than me and was either on painkillers or drunk as hell because dudes elbow and neck was cut up and he kept getting up, couldnt keep him down because he was just so big) before the police came and stopped it.

A self defense situation is different. For that, yes, boxing can be quite helpful. It doesn't mean it's the only martial art that is useful, nor is it always the best. But any martial art that features live training/competition against a fully resisting opponent in a freeform setting (boxing, most styles of wrestling, most styles of kickboxing, judo, BJJ, sambo, etc) is going to help you in a real fight. Ideally you pick a practical striking style and a practical grappling style and become competent at both. Boxing and judo pair very well together, BJJ and muay thai are a popular combination, freestyle wrestling and K1 kickboxing, mix and match, whatever.

It should go without saying, but unless you actually practice fighting you don't know how to fight. So yeah, a trained person is going to fare better than an untrained person.
Judo or wrestling and boxing, are perfect combination.
