He's two fought younger men in his entire career Parker and Dubois and both weren't great fights for him.
He got his handheld by the ref against Parker so much that it basically nullified any offense Parker could get going.
And ironically Parker is the only champion he's face who successfully defended his belt at the time of fighting them but people claim he's some great champion slayer.
And against Dubois the ref give Joshua an unreal amount of leeway, even dismissing multiple knockdowns, letting davison get in the ring in the first round whilst he was still counting which should've been an immediate disqualification it's another case of it looking like ref on the payroll.
Warriors don't need there hand holding by external forces.Oldskoolg likes this.

I just did a rewatch & something i noticed after the fight as the result was about to be announced caught my eye.
Dubois looked at Aj, bowed his head & punched his chest as a salute, Dubois is such a respectful honourable lad.
I hope after the year he's just had he puts his feet up for the winter or takes an easy touch voluntary, Ajs first 2 defences were against 9 fight novices. Then possibly Dubois can get the Undesputed shot.
Aj can bore off with his rematchroom I'm the A-side clauses, he's lost 4 in 10. To many undeserved chances.
It'snice on here without the fanboy's, it was similar after Ruiz 1 but this time seems more final.Last edited by Bob; 09-22-2024, 09:21 AM.

Dude can fück off with his hundred million dollars, do good works for charity or whatever he likes, but he'll always be the guy who melted down after losing twice to Usyk and ended up crazy legged on the canvas auditioning for a breakdance comp.
Gladiator...lol.

The A.J fanboys like many other fanboys did not see the flaws. The dude was always mentally fragile. He would gas out because of nerves. He was very robotic. Joshua did not lose to Dubois because he was old. He lost because of his weaknesses. All the talk of him beating Wilder years ago? Forget it. Joshua would have been knocked out early! The brits tend to overrate their guys and A.J is just another in the long line of them. He was well managed and made millions despite his limitations. You can knock Eddie Hearn all you want but he did a masterful job with Joshua. It's probably time for Joshua to retire but that's entirely up to him. What's left for him? Would a rematch turn out any differently?chicken-

Great article. One of the best I ever read.
I hope for AJ sake he doesn't go for the rematch. Ruiz was a late substitute he overlooked, who came to the rematch after months of partying. Dubois will not offer such advantages. He's fit and young.
Joshua can do a boxing match with Jon Jones if he needs more money. Or a Francis Ngannou rematch.
It was entertaining while it lasted. Time to hang'em up.

The reality is that from a physical sense AJ entered boxing late as a big genetically blessed guy - he is very athletic and probably could've plied his trade at various other sports as an athlete. However its clear to see he hasn't learnt or acquired those attributes that are required by top fighters; he is just lacking the key instincts of a fighter at the highest level.
From a mental sense AJ entered boxing as a bully. AJ or "Big Femi" as he was known on the roads was a horrible piece or work - beating on people smaller than him, getting into fights and selling drugs; those experiences crafted the man he is today. He has an INCREDIBLE ego from years of people blowing smoke up his a$$ as well as the clever matchmaking and the riches he's gained. It's fair to say AJ is detached from reality. In his mind I think his size and sheer physicality affords him a false sense of security. He just doesn't know how to process adversity so he unfolds in dramatic fashion. AJ is so used to getting things his own way as a bully type character that when he is not allowed that luxury he has literally no clue of how to deal with it - case in point being his ridiculous reaction to the Usyk rematch loss where he fully threw his toys out of the pram.gooderz84
