I was su****ious of him fighting Junior Middleweights at his own personal weight class for a stretch. Then he was too small to fight GGG after the Cotto fight. In the most non-Mexican move ever, he dropped his belt to avoid the challenge. Add in the PEDs, I just can't consider him one of the best Mexican fighters ever. I'm not sure history will be as kind in the future as his fans are today.

He pretty much became that by default with Floyd retiring and Pacs drawing power taking a hit post Floyd/Pac.

Tbh though I dont think hes really a bigger star than Joshua or Fury on an actual global level in terms of being recognisable to the general public. But he is the biggest in the US where the biggest PPV and gate revenue is.

Canelo fans are the most brainwashed fans I have witnessed in 40 years of watching the sport. Even diehard Floyd fans admit he cherry picked towards the end, but at least Floyd was an all timer at the lower weights, the real deal.

Canelo got embarrassed by Bivol. Biev would obliterate his ass, Canelo does not hit as hard as Yearde or Joe Smith and he is not even as good a boxer as Artur, he'd get wrecked. He is going nowhere near Biev unless Biev suddenly looks like an old man against Bivol. That is Canelo's MO. Old guys and shot guys and feather fists.

His fans are literally living on another planet.
