“I wouldn't put it past him to go for a rematch with Dmitry Bivol should Bivol defeat Artur Beterbiev in October,” surmised Fischer. “And I wouldn't be shocked if he challenged Beterbiev if King Artur prevails and becomes the undisputed champ.”
If the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol wins emphatically and takes little damage, Canelo won't go near a fight with him.Boxing Scene likes this.

Because Canelo has already opted out of his rematch clause with Bivol, refuses to fight Benavidez (who Canelo says can’t beat Bivol or Beterbiev), then labels Crawford a lose-lose fight he doesn’t want, but goes on to happily entertain a fight against McGregor.
It seems clear as day that he’s taking the soft route as he winds down his career, which is fine apart from the fact he’s holding the WBC belt hostage while doing so. And I’m genuinely confused as to how anyone could see things different.

Is Canelo an immensely talented fighter? Yes. Is he a super star, who is headed for the HOF? Yes. Did he get there on his own? No. Canelo is as big as he is because the previous star of Mexican heritage, Oscar "The Golden Boy" De Lahoya, took him under his wing and mentored him into super stardom. I hope he never forgets that.

I am sorry to disagree, but I cannot see Canelo fighting either Bivol or Beterbiev (no matter who wins the fight) before his career is over. The risk taking Canelo, daring to be the best, is long gone never to be seen again. If he ever wanted to rematch Bivol he would have done it by now. He has all the power in the world to do it, yet he chose not to. All he had to do it, was to pay him a few bucks more than for the first fight.Last edited by BrankoB; 09-13-2024, 05:47 PM.SUBZER0ED

Leaving aside the PR & concentrating purely on boxing, Canelo's loss to Floyd was the most significant moment. Outclassed by Floyd, who didn't have the power to stop him, Canelo had no choice but to endure a boxing clinic &, fair play, he learnt from it. If you look at him now he has some lovely, subtle moves but he learnt almost everything he knows from the master, Floyd. I think he stops Berlanga between 6-9.

Lol. This dude is never fighting Bivol again much less Beterbiev. He can't beat Bivol and he'd get ktfo against Beef. Stop the bull****.
