When canelo is in the equation, "earning" has nothing to do with who he fights.

I've always thought the exact opposite. Big body, no head movement, slow-footed, stays on line and in the pocket whle throwing 6 punch combinations. This guys is there to be hit all night long. What else could Canelo ask for?

He later on failed a vada test and was allowed to fight for a title in his very next bout. He’s also cut the line to get a shot in every division he moved into. Nobody in boxing is more entitled than canelo and no one in recent history has received a title shot for multiple belts with so little credibility as Berlanga.
oh and there’s no such thing as activating your mandatory status with the wbc. That’s just an excuse you canelo fans make up to defend his cowardice.
Why do casuals spout off when grown folks are talking boxing lol? The WBC allowed Pacquiao and Margarito to fight for their JR MW title even though neither was ranked there. Canelo was the mandatory to the winner, but Pacquiao vacated immediately afterward, and since Canelo already had a fight on schedule the WBC decided to drop it in for that fight on the condition that the winner faces the next highest ranked challenger available, Rhodes, which Canelo did to solidify his championship claim. Canelo went on to become the youngest unified and Ring champ in the history of the division by 22.

None of that has to do with Benavidez who straight up cut in front of the actual top WBC fighter and continued ducking unifications during his entire time with a belt. The WBC placated Smith by allowing him the WBC diamond title and promising him a title shot which Benavidez never honored. And later when David dumped the belt, they allowed him another shot and this time placated Yildirim by giving him mandatory status, but Benavidez never followed through with that either. Like I already went over, the WBC finally ordered him to defend against Smith and YIldirim but he dropped the belt yet again, and that was after previously rejecting unifications with Plant and Smith.

The dude refused to handle business on any level: rejected multiple unifications, never fought multiple backed up mandatories (despite those guys actually activating unlike David), dropped his one belt multiple times, AND then ducked a title shot at 175 too. On top of that, he wouldn't even do the minimum of activating on his end and requested multiple extensions before ultimately passing. Dude was the biggest fighter in the division yet still ducked all that smoke at 168 and refused to challenge for a title period at 175.

And yes, a fighter has to notify the WBC of their intention to challenge for the title. Benavidez SR even lied about sending the letter but it turned out to be another extension request lol. Matter of fact, when the team of Smith (who was the A side draw and the #1 champ holding the WBA/Ring belts) were calling Benavidez out to unify, his manager Sampson told Smith to stand in line and follow the protocol of activating with the WBC because B side David would rather continue fighting scrubs. Smith went ahead and activated, but again, David still never fought him. And yet clout chasing David who had no belt and can't sell on his own, refused to activate on his end even though he's the one who needed it. Instead you're out here complaining about Canelo who handled all the business David ducked and fighting another one of his #1 challengers?

Aww. You really thought you did something here and made a valid point? That’s cute but it’s all bullshyt. Canelo being given mandatory status in the first place was a joke. All he did was beat guys from smaller weight classes like little jose Cotto who was a lightweight, baldomir who was a welterweight, ndou who was a junior welterweight and then got to fight a welterweight Matthew Hatton at a catchweight that he missed. It was a complete scam just to try and get him to break Fernando Vargas record of being youngest champ at 54. He didn’t deserve that at all and was given entitled treatment.

And what this has to do with Benavidez is that it proves you’re a hypocrite and pick and choose who you want to complain about when it comes to cutting the line. All in an attempt to defend canelo ducking Benavidez who is more deserving than anyone canelo has defended his 168 pound titles against. The fact that you’re complaining about Benavidez and not Berlanga getting this fight makes you look ******. Which is common place for you canelo groupies.

I get it , at the end of the day the game is the game Canelo is the cash cow of the sport .No sport has the politics of boxing and us a fans are never content , complain about promoters and what they do or don't do for fighters . But when a fighter has enough power to make their own decisions we complain about that as well ..WAR Berlanga !!

Nothing but grasping at straws. Canelo had been top 5 ranked by all the organizations since welterweight so he quickly moved up the JR MW rankings and the WBC had a vacancy to fill. Even if they had withheld the belt til the Rhodes fight a few months later, the outcome would have been the exact same but you're out here harping about nothing when Benavidez straight took the spot held by someone else, never solidified his position by fighting Smith and continued ducking unifications til the end. Even when he dropped the 168 belt the second time, the WBC immediately offered him a top spot at 175 but he refused. And that's your victim lol?

To summarize, Benavidez rejected fighting for Plant's IBF title, dismissed Smith for the WBA and Ring belts, dumped his own WBC belt twice, and rejected a WBC 175 title shot. That's 6 title opportunities he discarded plus refused to activate on his end.
