  • Comments Thread For: Whether or not Daniel Dubois almost put Anthony Joshua to sleep is irrelevant

We know that Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois sparred many years ago. The tales from those sessions gathered pace when Frank Warren used them to talk up Daniel Dubois' chances of one day ruling the heavyweight world when he signed him back in 2017. Now, a little over one week before Dubois takes on Joshua at Wembley Stadium on September 21, tales of the former knocking the latter silly in sparring are back in the limelight.

      It is irrelevant,
Dubois knows this & had the respect to brush past the question (because talking about sparring worked well for Hrgovic) when baited with it at the fight announcement & they had their face to face.

Personally i think, & I'm no fan but Aj is the betting favourite.
Looking back though, Aj hasn't ever faced a puncher as dangerous & heavy handed as Dubois (i don't include amateur Ngannou) since Klitschko 41 & Povetkin 38. If Helenius 40 can touch Aj up what will Dubois jab & preasure do?

Great fight but it shouldn't be for a paper belt.

I've leveled people in sparring in 18-20oz gloves and headgear but once you take off the headgear and your potentially brittle hands aren't so protected you suddenly aren't so brave and willing to trade, who would of guessed!?

But as we seen from both Gorman and Hgorvic piecing someone up in sparring does absolutely nothing for under the lights and with 10oz gloves on.

And as "bob" said it's arguable Joshua hasn't fought a puncher like Dubois since Helenius or Wlad but I'd said Wlad was probably the hardest puncher has or will ever face he just didn't have the confidence to let it go in the ring and was safety first always but he did get blitzed multiple times in his career.

But Helenius just doesn't have skill to deliver his power and Wlad assumed the pup would gas and he could cruise even Vitali said something like that in German if i remember correctly during the fight.

So what? just because they lost to possibly the best in the division this fight is no longer relevant and they are both bums, are we now supposed to only watch Usyk fights? cuz that's the definition of **** riding. You probably just salty because they are both English in a big fight Americans seem to hate it when they are not the centre of attention.

hope Dubois wins. I just doubt his mental toughness. it's hard not to.

DDD has made some improvements in his game and you can tell he also has gain some extra confidence but I gotta roll with AJ experience fighting these kind of fights and his slightly better technique. Its going to be a fun one.

Once the small gloves go on it's show time , they both obviously hit hard enough to KO the other but for all his faults and not so solid whiskers my money is on Joshua here as Danny boy can't seem to avoid the right hand and Joshua throws that well ! This should all be over by the half way mark maybe well before . Joshua around 4 .IF he don't get caught with a short left with them small gloves!
