Comments Thread For: Liam Smith: There is a reason Josh Kelly has not cut it at the top

Since his fight with Josh Kelly was announced, Liam Smith has probably answered more questions about his own ability and desire than he has about Kelly's

I'm not a Brit, so I don't know why Smith is at world-level and Kelly is at mere local. Maybe Kelly or his team behaved just like we have here in America. Inactive, wants too much money they don't deserve yet, who knows? Yeah, haven't heard Smith having issues with accepting fights because he's demanding too much money. Haven't heard of him in that context. He just pops up with a scheduled fight, that's about it.

Liam knows but he has his own issues. All those things he's been through and as long as he has been going through them make Kelly look fresh as a Daisy.

I honestly don't rate Josh. He moves around flashily but hardly throws a jab. Instead he is always trying to invite opponents onto a counter. By neglecting his jab he not only gives up a lot of scoring opportunities but gives up control of the range. He is fine sparking journeymen or beating someone like Troy Williamson who we knew would walk straight into him. Someone like Avaneseyan could take time to have a look & decide when to attack. A consistent jab would've put Avaneseyan on the back foot. Josh acts like he'd like to be Floyd or Pernell. He needs to compare their jab stats to his own. That is his biggest flaw, but he has others.

Please, please Liam show up. In my mind, I keep seeing Kelly doing the moonwalk mid round.

Liam is a very proud man from a great fight family. I don't think he would ever turn up overweight & undertrained just for the money. He is 36 &, TBH, looks older & you have to think that one day he will go to the well and it will be dry. I hope he can drain out a little bit left to put Josh in his place.

It sounds like you're not going to give Kelly much credit if he wins, but will be ready to belittle him if he loses. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Tbh how smith looked last time against eubank he looked a little finished and he took a beating in that fight. So if Kelly travels up to 160 and looks good then I think he'll beat smith up aswell because I think he's alot faster and sharper then smith at this point

great? dont think they are great, unless you mean great in terms of sheer number of them fighting.
