  • Comments Thread For: Chris Billam-Smith praises Gilberto Ramirez ahead of potential unification bout

Chris Billam-Smith's possible next opponent isn't undefeated, and he isn't a natural cruiserweight. Those are two possible critiques that people may have for Gilberto Ramirez.

CBS is turning himself into a joke.
Hope Zurdo beats him and deprives him of that Saudi check.
It's always nice when calculative fükers miscalculate themselves.

So very well said. Opetaia beats both easily if either finds the cojones to face him next year.

If I was CBS I would definitely fight Zurdo. He will be the underdog whether he fights Zurdo or Opoteia but he has a much better chance v Zurdo & he'll get paid as much or more. Some of the internet warriors need to wind their necks in. These men risk death or serious, irreversible damage every time they step in the ring. They are entitled to get paid as best they can.

I see CBS v Zurdo as close to 50/50. What has Zurdo ever achieved apart from disgracefully cheating Rosado & generally acting like a b!tch?

No one is questioning CBS’ bravery in the ring. But it seems pretty clear the bigger, more challenging and more lucrative fight to take is the one against Jai, who is clearly a favorite fighter of Turki so you know there would few roadblocks to the fight coming off. Instead CBS seems to be pretty calculating in steering clear of taking the tougher, higher paying fight against Jai because he sees the lazy headcase Zurdo as a potentially easier fight even if it’s for less money. Plus I think fans are put off by CBS’ weak excuse that he wouldn’t have a long enough camp for Jai because he was on vacation for three weeks.

Roj. I totally agree Opoteia is the man at CW & would be the bigger, more challenging fight and easy to make. I'm not sure it will be much more lucrative because while, as you say, Zurdo is a lazy headcase, he has a big fanbase. Also, even if it’s for less money, & I don't think it will be that much less, CBS has a decent chance of beating Zurdo &, if he does, a fight with Opoteia will probably get him double what he is being offered to now. Boxing is a sport & a business & business-wise I think it is a good move.
