Berlanga is nothing special. This fight will be on the same level as when canelo fought Alfredo Angulo or Julio Caesar Chavez jr.

Would you be shocked if Berlanga beats Canelo?

It ain’t happening. It’s like asking me if I’d be shocked if the world exploded tomorrow. Why ask? The comparison with Tyson-Douglas is heavily flawed. Douglas was actually a good boxer who fought an excellent fight. We only found out what happened with Mike and his carousing/non-training afterwards. Berlanga couldn’t carry Buster’s spit bucket, skill-wise; and Canelo isn’t taking this fight lightly, because he wants to punish the big mouth. So, yeah, the same way I expect the world to be here tomorrow is the same way I expect Alvarez to beat Berlanga. It’s like the sun rising in the east.

Berlanga could beat Canelo. I try not to underestimate people in the ring. Canelo could get caught with something. Berlanga has been beating too many tomato cans for most of his career which means he has a false sense of superiority in the ring. Canelo is levels above any opponent that Berlanga has fought. Berlanga would have to show some kind of movement, have a hard jab and take Canelo into the later rounds in order to beat him. If I were him I would watch the fight between Bivol and Canelo at least 5 times and implement strategies from that fight. Berlanga has to hit Canelo hard early in order to get Canelo''s respect.
To me it's highly unlikely that Berlanga beats Canelo but anything is possible in the ring.
