Comments Thread For: First women's title fight in Saudi Arabia an honor and responsibility, Skye Nicolson says

Skye Nicolson and Raven Chapman aren't the first pro women boxers to compete in Saudi Arabia -- that was Ramla Ali's knockout of Crystal Garcia Nova in 2022 -- but Nicolson's upcoming bout with Chapman will be the first-ever women's title fight in the kingdom.

She's one of the best of the upcoming female boxers. Not a bad choice IMO for a historical milestone fight.

I have really tried with womens boxing . I don't have anything against them being women in boxing. It doesn't bother me that they are chicks who also fight. I strongly believe that everyone in the world deserves the same freedom, rights, liberties ,and to be treated with the same respect that I get in the world. I served in the Army because of that. I'm just making it really clear that they being women doesn't have anything to do with why I don't care for womens boxing overall. Too many of the fights are brutal mismatches , or no better than two drunks fighting in a parking lot after the bars close. The relative lack of knockouts or even the threat or possibility that someone might get stopped is a major turn off. It takes a lot of the suspense and excitement out of the fight , it takes the fun out of it when you already know that there's not going to be a stoppage. Lately , I leave the fights on so they don't lose ratings or anything but I don't watch them. If there was a league or cards for just womens fights , they'd starve to death. I don't know if three minute rounds would produce more ko's of just prolong the misery.

this fight and talking heads will take up atleast an hour. what would really be a great historic happening is for them to only have around 10 mins between each fight, we all know they will be laying this "historic women's fight" on thick. so happy the Beeterbiev/Bivol fight is on ESPN+. What a great happening

You'd see a lot fewer guys getting KO's if they had 2 min rounds too. Take a look sometime at how many stoppages happen in the last minute of a round in men's boxing...

To give you some examples, Bud Crawford would have only 13 stoppages instead of 31.

Mayweather would have only 12 instead of 27.

Canelo only has 7 stoppages within the round limits and time frames allotted to women's boxing, not counting the several that didn't record the time of stoppage.

As for competition, there's 202 women competing in featherweight alone, while there's 167 total competing in all of junior middle, middle, super middle, light heavy, cruiser, and heavy combined. The level of competition for women is much higher at the lighter weight divisions. In point of fact, feather is the third largest division in women's boxing, after fly and bantam.

It's fine if you don't like it, but going by KO rate is ******. And you should dislike the self appointed GWOAT for the same reason...

Make the ladies wear optional sheer tops and/or micro, string bikinis and the ratings might go up up a bit.

Whatever happened with Serranos push to fight 12/ 3 's kr 10/3's ? Did the other ladies not want it ? I was hoping that it would take effect. It would help legitimize womens boxing in many eyes.
