Comments Thread For: Kathy Duva says Tim Tszyu fight is tough but winnable for Bakhram Murtazaliev, who wants Terence Crawford after

Bakhram Murtazaliev's first junior middleweight world title defense against Tim Tszyu is both a step up -- and a potential stepping stone. Murtazaliev (22-0, 16 KOs) has wanted Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) since before the 31-year-old won the vacant IBF belt in early April, when he knocked out Jack Culcay. Murtazaliev's promoter, Kathy Duva of Main Events, is pleased that the fight is now coming to fruition.

That's a tough fight, hard to choose a winner.

Truthfully, I had never heard of this guy before but after watching his fight against Culcay, I gotta question the wisdom of taking this fight, right after a tough loss.

I always said it was doable, we just saw it done. Tim isn't a road warrior, not like his father. Kostya left a path of destruction.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Tszyu doesn't shy away from wicked fights.

i hope murtazaliev gets a nice payday and a fair decision after waiting 4,5 years (absolutely ridiculous) as a mandatory challenger. respect to both fighters.

To be fair Jack Culcay win is not a great yardstick to see how Murtazaliev will do against Tim Tszyu. Murazaliev does not have any significant names on his resume so he should not be looking past Tim for another big payday. It will be a tough fight.

Didn't Tim and Fundora both shy away from fighting Crawford?, to fighting Spence instead ?.

And I likedTim before he mentioned he would rather the Spence fight , than getting the biggest bag to face Crawford no:1 p4p.

You have a point. Tszyu started mentioning Spence after Bud made that WBO move on him. Tim is a little shook.

Crawford's got all them boys shook , the real boogie man.

Now boxNng new 24 is claiming Fundora is fighting Spence in January 2025.

See what I'm say, that boy would rather give up the WBO belt then face Crawford, the biggest bag and the inevitable worst beating of his natural born life. Lol

A member in my FB boxing group keeps insisting Spence will fight Fundora next. First he said September, then October, then November. I honestly doubt Errol and the Charlos ever fight again. That beating Bud laid on Spence took his soul. I think at this stage, Fundora will stop him, and so would most top guys at 154. If I was Al, I'd advise Errol to fight someone like Mendoza first.
