Fair play to Benavidez for not wasting his career chasing paydays/Canelo. Far too many fighters make that mistake.
Absolutely loved watching GGG in the ring but he definitely could've done so much more instead of waiting on Canelo.

    That's one example at least.

I don't see Morrell happening next, so I can live with Hot Rod or Hart, 175 is a wasteland

I respectfully disagree, taking on tough opponents is how you become world champion. I'd rather see him take an easier fight right after he becomes champion before defending on against other tough opponents.

Khan with Mayweather and Brook with Khan are the two I always think of.

Gvozdyk was just retired and 37 years old. Andrade was a career 154lb fighter who was super inactive and didn’t belong at 168. Andrade also never Plant, good win Lemieux also semi retired, super inactive and undersized. He came out of retirement to fight Benavidez for the payday.

his last 3/4 fights were show case fights.

Canelo's best win was against a 36 year old. Gvozdyk had 3 tune up fights and has low mileage and came into the ring in his best shape ever.

Andrade last fought at 154, six years ago. Undefeated 2 division champion.

                Plant is a top SM.

Only two losses between 3 of them. If they are showcase fights I would love to know what Mungia, Charlo, Berlanga and Ryder were. lol

GGG was undefeated , active, and regarded as a p4p top 5. No fighter has low mileage after being brutally knocked out. I really hope u are not comparing Gvozdyk and GGG.

Andrade was clearly too small at 168, and had never fought any world class fighters before then. He had 1 fight at 168 before fighting Benavidez who comes in the ring as a cruiserweight.

Plant was a good win, he gets credit for that one but Canelo did already knock him out.

Munguia would be Benavidez 2nd best win on his resume and Berlanga would be tied at 3rd with Andrade. Canelo is fighting young undefeated fighters in their prime who have a big size advantage over him. Not to mention Canelo is very much past prime and heading toward the end of his career.

Even more importantly, Canelo has accomplished so much that he is at a position to be able to have a showcase fight if he chose. Benavidez is nowhere near that level.

So you admit being 37 does not automatically mean you are done. Thank you, that was my point. And maybe you need to rewatch the gvozdyk beterbiev stoppage, it was not a brutal knock out. It was a tko and he was on his feet within seconds.

Andrade was clearly too small just because David beat him? lol. He was as big as David.

You actually think Berlanga a can who has not beaten anyone other than cab drivers would be tied with Andrade on Davids resume? LOL. Mungia has not been a champ since 154, and fought nobody since. They are not even on Dirrell level who was a 2 time 168 champ. Your another canelita.

You’re comparing a 37 year old Gvozdyk to a 36 year old GGG. They were on 2 different levels as boxers. You sound crazy comparing a Gvozdyk win to a GGG win.

Andrade was too small because he was too small. Even Andrade trainer said he was shocked at how big Benavidez was and that when he saw his size, he knew it was going to be more difficult than anticipated.
Once again, you sound CRAZY trying to say Benavidez and Andrade were the same size. You may want to do an eye exam

What you’re not getting is that Benavidez is fighting very past prime fighters who are a shell of their former selves. Anthony was a good fighter but he was 34 compared to Benavidez being 22. Youth alone can be a determining factor on how difficult a fight is. Do you think that beating a young prime Munguia is an easier task than beating a 35 year old Andrade? Delusion is a hell of a drug
