Well, regardless, my second point mostly applies. Shaeffer doesn't speak for Floyd, and Alvarez isn't a big enough name yet for PPV numbers, live gate might do well, but not PPV.

And PPV is all Floyd thinks about.
Golden Boy Promotions and Richard Schaeffer do speak for Floyd since he is under contract for the next 4 fights.
Either way, I doubt this fight gets made. It makes no business sense.. well, in the USA at least. I don't know how big Canelo is in Mexico.

If this was so, they could force him to fight Mosley, no? GBP clearly wanted that. From the post fight interview, to the press conference afterwards where DLH was practically begging the appeal of the matchup.

But they can't force him. They may have his ear, but they don't speak for him, they are just business partners. Floyd and his team ultimately decides who he will fight.

Cotto is under Bob Arum's banner and Bob Arum can't tell him who to fight either.
He can make strong suggestions but that's about it.
At the end of the day, he is still under contract and wether he likes Bob Arum or not, he is still fighting for him. Same with Mayweather.

Does this question apply to his fans as well? Too often I think people mistake fans for *****s. I am a fan.

The way this question is being presented, with such inflammatory language, takes away from a question and topic that might have been interesting to discuss. Considering your fandom for pac, it sure is hypocritical to even throw around a term like that, deemed for posters who love a fighter excessively. Grow the *** up.

That's exactly my point. "Strong suggestions" isn't speaking for a fighter. They may be collaborating on the promotional side of the fights, and purse splits, I don't really know that angle. But as for matchups its exactly as you said, Floyd ultimately decides.

So until I see Floyd Mayweather Jr himself actually going on interviews and advocating an Alvarez fight, this issue is all hype and hearsay.

Yeah, I consider myself a fan..but not a hugger or whatever word they have for it now.

The answer to the TS's question is: If this fight was made in 2010, over a Pac, Cotto, or Mosley matchup, yes, I would be dissapointed.

                  Happy?
