Pac and Morales: another Limey divide

Over here in Limeyland the only chance we'll get to see this bout is next Saturday, when it's broadcast on a week delay on small satellite station SS1. Any fight that involves Don King seems to be priced out of what the UK buyers are prepared to pay. Which, considering his last headlining show involved John Ruiz and Kali Meehan, might not be considered a bad thing, but choice is nice.

But even taking that into consideration, all the talk and discussion of two flyweights is perplexing in a country where boxing is even more of a minority sport than it is in America, and the average man on the street still reminisces back to the days of Benn/Eubank for the last great era of boxing TV. As for Barrera, he seems to straddle two eras, as those that would have heard of him over here (and I'm talking more general public than boxing fans, obviously) would remember him as the guy who beat Hamed more than anything else.

In fact, I only know two other people that follow boxing...

Umm... what was my point again?

Sorry, I was getting confused by someone's remark in another area of the forum, jokingly (as I now realise) saying that the fight wouldn't be a ******* for a week as "Don King says so".

But despite that, this is still a fight UK TV wouldn't buy as a premier-priced match...

Boxing isn`t a big deal in the UK. Soccer dominates the Sky Sports network mostly. The big DK fights or world title fights most of the time recieve the PPV treatment but the coverage isn`t extensive.
Mostly the British are only provided with British stars such as hatton and Calzaghe but the BBC has tried in the past, i remember, correct me if i`m wrong but didn`t they show live coverage or Lewis Vs Rahamn from south africa? That was a freebe too!

Yeah, Lewis said (I think) that as champ he was going to give the BBC free access to his fights... then he goes and loses the championship!!

We do get SOME ppv fights, but it's such a small audience... bear in mind the average man on the street in England hasn't got a clue who Vitali Klitschko is. Jonathan Ross's reaction (see the Lennox interview in bit*******s) is fairly typical for over here, I think.

For those interested and impatient (I know I would be!) b*xing t*rrents has all the fights from the PPV for backing up. This is assuming you purchased the fight.
