Pacquiaos greatness comes from his ability to fight like a FW at WW

He basically fights like a featherweight, rapid head movement, rapid punching and great speed.

Pacquiao was a great featherweight weight as well, but like most fighters when they move up they can't keep up that constant style. Pacquiao can.

Look what happened when Marquez moved up.

I think this is partly due to the fact that Pacquiao has legitimately only put on 2-3 lbs since 130. How he is knocking guys out is a mystery to me..but you know the saying..speed kills. (something Duran did too)

When he moved up to 135 against Diaz I thought his power had faded. He had to hit Diaz a hell of a lot to put him down. Then against Oscar he put on a bit of muscle and showed he still had some pop. By the time he fights Hatton I guess he's comfortable at the weight and blasts Hatton out.

He's the only guy at 148 lbs that can run around for 12 rounds throwing punches non stop with blazing speed.

I do agree with the statement. Pacquiao has brought his speed and power and is able to fight the exact same way as he did when he was in a lower weight class. I really think 140 is perfect for him plus I think he would have a hard time making 130 now

        Re: Pac man.........and his weight....

I believe that manny has the frame to put on xtra weight and still be fluid and solid. I noticed this ..... Look at his calve muscle, HUGE! On the other hand Oscars D 's are like Angle hair pasta noodles... As you all know power comes from the base.. A fighter can build all the upper body he wants ,ie: J. Taylor, but a natural strong based fighter has that TRUE power...

I am inclined to agree with your statement. Manny does have strong lower body, legs/core. Therefore, does have the critical components to generate both proper power and movement that rivals his opposition. Ultimately, it gives manny the ability to move "quicker" in and out of danger, the pivoting ability to produce torque which ultimately allows him to throw that devastating blow to hatton...Manny, atheletically is gifted.

However, the real test will be November 14, when he faces a legit welterweight with his own power, skill, and determination. I will be rooting for Cotto on timing, intelligence, and power.

Totally agree. I think his ability to retain his power is because his speed has not decreased at all, and speed generates power. Guys at 140 and 147 are not used to guys who can move like a featherweight and still hit like Pac does.

the reason why he looks so fast is because the people he has fought in his last three fights. diaz, de la and hatton are not known for their quick hands. matter of fact you can call all of them slow. dont compare what marquez did to pac when he fought mayweather. JMM fought a dude that wasnt going to kill himself making weight (unlike de la hoya did against pac) and all of those three boxers speed put together that pac fought are not as fast as floyd is. we going to see nov 14.

if hatton was a punching bag how come mayweather didnt finish him early..
if david diaz was a punching bag i wonder why morales lost to diaz..
even if you argue morales won, still a close fight for a punching bag against an ATG..
