Lopez is salivating over that Turki money. He essentially wants Top Rank to work with Alalshikh. Teo got beef with Hearn who has influence over his royal highness.

We need to remember that we're talking about Teofimo Lopez, a 27yo with only 22 fights. He's not a fighter on the verge of retirement who needs to desperately cash out. For all of his accomplishments, he's a wishy-washy performer who hasn't proven to be a huge draw. Paro just upset the 140lb boogeyman on foreign soil, so he's earned the right to be perceived as somebody! A unification with Paro is an upgrade from fighting Ortiz and Claggett. Teofimo is not head and shoulders above the 140lb division. Teofimo still has something to prove, even if he thinks he doesn't.
If he wants to sit out and wait until the perfect opportunity comes along, fine. But he may regret it.
Teo stands out because if he really studied the craft, got grounded and consistent, he might develop the skills to fight at above 150. As it stands now, he is not at that point. Boots would hurt him bad. Prograis would be a much better fight for him to gradually get a fix on moving up.kiaba360 likes this.

The issue is Norman's risk:reward ratio. If Teo thought Norman posed no threat, he would immediately move up and take his title...therefore setting up a unification with Ennis on a Riyadh card. But no, Teo is using lame excuses to not take the fight. I want Ennis vs. Norman anyway.
He should go fight Paro (IBF) in Australia. It's a decent match-up and easily marketable. If he unifies, then he earns the right to go after Ennis (IBF) or Norman (WBO). Right now, Teo is trying to talk himself into a big fight. Someone should remind him that he fought fxcking Steve Claggett. He isn't in the position to be calling shots.

154 lbs is so stacked, they have good fights for the next couple of years. Nobody is mentioning Teo at 154. He is not a factor. He is not on anybody's radar screen. I really don't know how long it will take Teo to understand where he is at and that the world is not against him but that he is his own worst enemy. Somebody really needs to shake him up.Hustle likes this.

Teo is too ugly to be a star, the kid looks like the missing link with that hawk nose and Neanderthal forehead
He has some flair when he fights someone coming at him but that’s it
For example if he follows the Loma win up with Haney instead of kambosos. He would be bigger.
If he followed the Josh Taylor win with the proposed Ryan garcia fight that he turned down. He would be bigger.
He chooses to play hard ball after every big win and it lands him with fights like martin and claggett instead of the tanks and ryans of the world

Trust me, it’s going to take a whole lot more than $2.5Mil for Bud to fight a Teofimo Lopez. He is well and beyond that stage of his career.
However, if he wants all the smoke from Boots Ennis; Then by all means let him have at it. He should help himself.
Just so long he is willing take a good ass whipping in the proces though. Myself and most boxing fans alike are down widdit!

Teo is a pretty great fighter when he's focused and motivated but he seemed quite small even for 140. He'll seem crazy small at 147 and 154. Probably not a great idea pushing it at those levels but it's his career and he has earned the right to attempt to prove us wrong.billeau2 likes this.
