A percentage of every single fighter purse, promoter take, sanctioning body take and gate should go to a boxer retirement fund. Those that never make it into the upper echelons fight their tails off and are lucky to make beyond a minimum wage yet we enjoy their entertainment. Why not have a retirement fund for these boxers?

There are times, when the need for charitable funds is simply too important to rely on the charitable nature of those who prosper from the enterprise that serves as the cause of the need.

      Tax the promotions 15%.

the indifference from most fighters is not surprising when you consider that probably 98% of active boxers do not earn enough money to support themselves, and are forced to have actual jobs outside of boxing in order to pay their bills. To expect them to reach into their pockets is simply not realistic. Not to mention the denial most would have about ever possibly needing the services of a facility like that.

And as to the idea of taxing promotions 15%, or whatever, that also makes no sense. All that would do would be to lower the fighter purses by 15% to cover it. The money has to come from somewhere, it wont just appear like magic out of thin air.
