Whether he is making, suggesting or rejecting fights, Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh is currently the straw that is stirring boxing's drink.

I respect Canelo for not bowing to the Turki, everybody taking that blood money real quick, but not Canelo- its the only real thing I respect about Canelo, I can't respect a Mexican fighter who wont fight the best out there like Julio Cesar Chavez did, Julio would have fought David Benavidez without question, but he chooses an unproven fighter all the time, man up carrot top

I think Canelo would take Turki's money to fight Berlanga, but that's not what is being offered. He would have to fight a real threat. Canelo is a guy who would drop a belt to avoid a threat, claiming his pride wouldn't allow him to be dictated to.

He's not "not bowing to the Turki" ... He's chickening out from a great pay day out of fear....

Maybe, maybe not. We'll have a to wait and see if he gets a good offer after he fights Berlanga.

+1 on that. Glad to see Canelo stand up to the person everyone else is bending over for

Boxing fans for years: I wish the best would fight the best, but it will never happen because the sport is all about money.

A billionaire who loves boxing comes forward and makes the big fights with his money.

Boxing fans: I respect Canelo for not bending over and having enough respect for himself to turn down the big fight regardless of money.

Unreal. Canelo ducks and gives 100 excuses and it is respectable? Jesus. Just stop the sport. It is a joke at this point.

He’d gladly take Turki’s money if he was offering big money bum fights like PBC and Matchroom are

As a guy who actively dislikes Canelo I will say this; it rather seems as though Saul has seen some of the purses Alalshikh has paid certain fighters & is thinking to himself "if you're gonna pay Fury & Usyk that much, then I'm gonna need this much because compared to me those guys aren't even famous."

Also there clearly appears to be an element of pride involved & although some may attribute it to fear, Canelo has always been a guy who refuses to be dictated to.

Even though he's a drug cheat he still loves boxing more than you or I or Turki, it's possible he just doesn't want to feed into the hype surrounding some random geek of a dude with a virtually unlimited budget who's trying to treat boxing like his personal plaything (a plaything that must submit gratefully to it's supposedly excellent daddy lol).

Some may believe it's different. However there was always a fighter boxing fans claimed Canelo ducked. He's fought them all.

My personal belief is since he can never avenge the Mayweather loss, he plans to get his revenge in another way. By eclipsing Mayweather's record payday from the Pacquiao and McGregor fight. 200 million would do that.

He will let boxing fans bleed for it until he gets what he wants. He's also going to sit back and wait until Benavidez beats someone of significance. This will create more buzz. Or if Benavidez looks amateur vs the best, Canelo will say " I told you so ". When he was younger he would immediately take those risk regardless of the payday. Now he's saying **** you pay me.
