The point I was making was that I scored both those 10-9 for Bohachuk and STILL scored the fight for him, though a draw wouldn't bother me one bit. So I was calling out the judges, because IF you score both 10-8, I see no way you can score that fight for Ortiz

All I know is that Ortiz, for being the “winner”, is looking like food right now for Terence Crawford.
...and Robert Garcia knows this...which is why I expect them to go somewhere else.

Crawford fought potentially the toughest puzzle (Madrimov) off 1 year of inactivity. Ortiz is not as difficult a puzzle, even-though he has power.

They would be 9-9 in that case.. Both fighters start a round with 10 points. If the round is considered totally even, judges score that 10-10. If a fighter gets knoced down, they lose a point. So, when Ortiz goes down it is 10 (Bohachuck) -9 (Ortiz) at that point. Whoever loses the round also loses a point (Bohachuck). So, that would make it 9-9. I actually really hate when announcers automatically say a round is 10-8 when a knockdown happens. That is absolutely not true, and in many cases the knocked down fighter goes on to win the round, making it 9-9.

"If Fighter A is winning the round and scores a knockdown and continues to win the round after the knockdown, then Fighter A is awarded the round 10-8. However, if Fighter A is winning the round and gets knocked down by Fighter B, then Fighter B is awarded the round 10-9. The key is: Which fighter won the round without the knockdown? Thus, most fans and TV commentators are incorrect in automatically scoring a 10-8 round for a fighter who scores a knock down without taking into consideration who won the round without the knock down."

Thank you, I think too much assumption goes to 10-8 rounds after KDs when in reality most of the time it is because a dude is obviously going to control and dominate a round in which the other guy got knocked down. I didn't see that tonight, in fact, I thought both rounds Ortiz went down in were a couple of his best rounds in the fight! I think everybody is getting hung up on the wrong thing though. The issue is not whether the judges scored those rounds 10-9 or 10-8, the issue is that they ALL scored BOTH rounds 10-8 and STILL not a single judge had Bohachuk winning. That's a problem

No, that's still not correct, one fighter literally HAS to be given 10 points in a round UNLESS there is a point deduction. That is the only time you can get a round without someone getting 10

                  • This is why when they went to talking Crawford or Ortiz I wasn't to keen on it; Sure it'd be a good fight but a guy like Bud can ruin your career..and he's only got maybe 2 fights left in his career not sure Ortiz is best choice

I had it being more of a draw tonight but either way Ortiz took a lot of punishment tonight It was funny because I was thinking hell the Danny Garcia we saw against Benavidez at 154lbs might have done a better job on Bohachuk than that lol but Ortiz has his moments, strong as an ox but just needs more exp in mid to deep waters

                    • After reading The Ring article about scoring rounds, I am amending my card to make the two KD rounds 10-9 rounds. I now have it 114-114. Fight could go either way as I had two rounds that could go either way and I split them.
