Povetkin vs Chambers Rematch For The IBF-Interim Belt?

Why did Povetkin cancel his fight with Reed (Damon that is, not our Reed) if the interim IBF fight will be early next year? And then, when will (Wlad) Klitschko fight the winner? It seems like these guys (yeah Wlad, Alex, and Eddie) are not in any rush to fight. WTF, if Vitali can have a fight in September and one subsequently in December, than why can’t these guys get it together for this year?

The last part is where I question whether or not Povetkin-Chambers II takes place.

There's really no reason for it to take place next year if Wlad can fight in the 1st quarter. Plus, even though most give Eddie a much better chance in a return go against Povetkin, the question is will any network want to invest in it?

I don't see Showtime investing in a fight where the winner fights Wlad on HBO.

HBO seemed underwhelmed by the results - action and ratings-wise - of their Jan '08 fight.

That leaves Chambers heading back to Germany for a rematch, one that at best is picked up by ESPN/ESPN Classic, otherwise goes the same route as Chambers-Dimitrenko.

It's funny, I even asked Eddie if he'd be up to a Povetkin rematch. He said he wouldn't hesitate, but that he only sees it happening if Wlad's surgery results in a longer-than-expected rehab period.

Ballsy for Chambers to take this fight when he's already assured a shot at Wlad, though I like his chances a lot better this time around.

Cool you were able to talk to Chambers. It wouldn't matter to Chambers if he goes to Germany because he will let his fist do the talking. Povektin beat Chambers convincingly last time and it wouldn't matter if the fight was in the US or anywhere else, he still would of lost.

Also according to Tunney Wlad won't recover until April. If what Povetkin's manager said is true, the possibility of this fight happening is very likely. I'd say around January and the winner of the bout fights Wladimir in April.

Since Povetkin has already defeated Chambers to earn his shot, a rematch doesn't really make sense, but it's an interesting fight.

With that idiot Teddy Atlas in his corner, Povetkin will lose this time.

A rematch does make sense because Povetkin delayed the fight last year and delayed it further by fighting Estrada. Because Povetkin has yet to fight Wladimir, Wladimir now has two mandatories. Also Chambers defeated Samuel Peter and Alexander Dimitrenko who were both rated high in the IBF rankings.

Hopefully Atlas won't shoot Povetkin after he loses.

Remember he nearly shot Donny Lalonde.
