Povetkin vs Chambers Rematch For The IBF-Interim Belt?

Heavyweight Alexander Povetkin won’t have his first fight in the USA this year. His bout against Damon Reed scheduled for October 16 is cancelled. However the Russian boxer will get to fight for the interim IBF title, possibly with Eddie Chambers. That way the two mandatory contenders for the both belts belonging to Wladimir Klitschko (IBF and WBO) could have a rematch. Last year Povetkin beat Chambers, winning on the scorecards. [details]

I don't see the need for an interim title fight, Wlad has been a very active champion. I think Chambers has a good shot at winning this fight though, normally the first fight under a new trainer is a transitional fight, the best normally doesn't come out in the first fight.

great news because the winner doesn't have to wait long for the ibf/wbo unification bout.either povetkin or chambers takes a back seat but still is in the picture.this way it also makes wlad have 1 mandatory defence against the winner.interesting scenario because chambers vs wlad was to be in April then povetkin in the summer.clarity is coming well ahead of schedule.

Chambers should win this time around if he's up for it like he was against Dimitrenko.

This is great hopefully this one could happen over here in Philly or something. I think chambers could take this one. Maybe we could get a good trilogy outta it haha.

Since Povetkin has already defeated Chambers to earn his shot, a rematch doesn't really make sense, but it's an interesting fight.

With that idiot Teddy Atlas in his corner, Povetkin will lose this time.

I wouldn`t call Atlas an idiot, but, yes, Chambers got this one this time!

Please, no interim titles!!! HW is in a very dangerous state and they`re going to give an interim belt... Cause i know if one gets and interim title he won`t be forced to fight Wlad... And there are more profitable options for Wlad, which do not include Povetkin...

Hopefully Atlas won't shoot Povetkin after he loses.

Remember he nearly shot Donny Lalonde.

Why did Povetkin cancel his fight with Reed (Damon that is, not our Reed) if the interim IBF fight will be early next year? And then, when will (Wlad) Klitschko fight the winner? It seems like these guys (yeah Wlad, Alex, and Eddie) are not in any rush to fight. WTF, if Vitali can have a fight in September and one subsequently in December, than why can’t these guys get it together for this year?
